I'm not going to transcribe the whole thing, but immediately before the provided quote on Rangefinder, Josh is talking about how they have removed some of the aim assist on shotguns, but only while firing from the hip.
Hence the reason you would want to ADS with a shotgun, because it grants you improved aim assist.
