instead of going orbit, you should be able to open up the director in-world, and choose your next destination. Then, it would automatically take you to orbit (loading screen).

While that would be better, even that feels half-assed. The Director shouldn't be necessary at all. It should be like any modern open world game. I finish one quest and can then traverse the game world to start the next quest (with a fast travel option).
