The traveler is trapped by the squid ship thing, and there was a second or two where it looks like the captured Light is beamed out into space somewhere. It isn't destroyed, that would be counter to Gary's plans.

The exploding planet is likely to be the Cabal home world, after some encounter (probably with the darkness).
