Raid *SP* – Warlock Rift Bug? (Destiny)

During the Pleasure Gardens encounters, I've been having trouble on-and-off with losing the Empowering Spores buff when DPSing my War Beast. Last night, I finally figured it out… my Empowering Rift appears to clear the buff, and it takes a while for the buff to reset (I was up against the rock when creating the Rift, so you can't see the animation, but you can see the effect on the ground when it deploys):

Is this supposed to happen? We talked about it after the encounter, and someone said they thought that if you drop a Rift inside a Titan bubble, it removes the shield effect as well. I haven't had a chance to test that yet, but I'm wondering if anyone else here has.
