Foolproof Crota Boss Guide (Spoilers) (Destiny)

I've tried this multiple times, but Crota always starts moving once I pick up the sword and runs to the far right or left while I'm heading to center. This always causes a miss, and he always waits till i'm under the racetrack to start booking it.
He is on a timer. You simply need to kill the sword bearer more quickly the first time, and also time it so you can get to him in the center.
