Yes, I have found the walls to be much more effective for that grenade when playing with my Titan. Never thought of the ceiling before. It's kind of genius. :)

I only put it on the ceiling if the walls aren't very flat (also works great for Omnigul but it's kinda random with the piping), but it works because, I think, the damage is in a cone shape so it actually splashes the ground in a decent area. Also, no one really sees the grenade :)
