The problem with bloom is that it introduced a random element into an equation that previously had none. Thus, Rage.

This is the exact argument that always gets used against bloom, but it doesn't make sense to me. Your bullet always landed within the reticule. The size of the reticule was changing, but it changed in a predictable way and the bullet always landed inside that little circle. Just like every reticule in every Halo game ever. There's nothing random about it.

If you boot up Halo 3, equip a BR, and stand far enough away from a target that their head fills up half of your reticule, then you might hit them, you might not. Your weapon is not accurate enough to guarantee the hit at that range.

Bloom was the exact same thing. If you let your reticule shrink until your target filled the circle, you would hit them. 100% guaranteed. If you pulled the trigger while your reticule was larger, and your target didn't fill the circle, then your weapon wasn't accurate enough to guarantee the hit at that time. Same "random" element that happens in any Halo game.
