Is anyone else finding this happening to them?

Nope. For me it was invisible, yet still enhancing the experience. Except for the Sepkis Prime battle… DUN DUN DUN DUN DUH DUN DUN DUH!!!!

My kids dance to that music every time.

This makes me so sad (reply) In that article, they linked to one of the songs from the Beta:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxMV2ZXm0Lo&list=FLxgwqyFM0NIa9I93w2LyL7w

This song captures everything that I love about Marty's music. By itself it tells a story and transports you to a world that you could barely even imagine. I have been playing this song on repeat the past few hours, and I absolutely love what Marty and his team have done. This is the type of music that I could listen to for years and never grow tired of, just like I did with the Halo soundtracks over the years.

What makes me said is that this is basically Marty's farewell. This is the last time we hear what Bungie and Marty O'Donnell can do when they work as one. Because when I listened to the original Halo soundtrack, I didn't just hear the music, I heard the potential for more. Halo 2 grew on the themes that I loved, and Halo 3 made them even more beautiful. There was an entire world of music hidden inside of Marty that I loved exploring with each new release.

And now that I've been hearing the music of Destiny, I can't help but hear that same potential for greatness. I know that there are so many beautiful themes that could come as a result of this game and I was really looking forward to what Marty and his team were going to accomplish over the next 10 years. It just makes me sad that we will never be able to witness that again.

We are definitely going to miss you Marty, and I know that if you go to another game studio, I will follow you there with open ears.

The Destiny Soundtrack Is So Good It's Distracting (reply) I saw that article, was extremely amused that the author was uncertain whether Marty was the composer or not (5 minutes and google would suss out that the soundtrack was finished a while ago).

Any way you slice it Marty can't be replaced, whoever takes over might be good, or even great, but IMO there's only 2 composers who's work has been indispensable to their respective companies and that's Marty with Bungie, and Nobuo Uematsu for Square. Both are responsible for consistently elevating their games storytelling beyond what only words or voice acting are capable of doing. Other composers have done great work, sometimes even classic work, but not at the same combination of quality and longevity as those 2 (in my humble opinion, of course).

So I was browsing Kotaku for the first time in I don't know how many years, and I came across this:

Is anyone else finding this happening to them? I sure hope that Bungie has ten years worth of Marty music somehow, because his music is by far one of the biggest things about Halo and may turn out to be just as big for Destiny. I don't want Destiny to go the Halo 4 route where the music is largely generic and unmemorable. :(

Remember: Bungie still has Michael Salvatori (as far as I am aware), and all the other parts of the sound team were all hired by O'Donnell. :)

The loss still hurts, but I'm very interested to hear what sort of directions Salvatori and the audio team take from here. I don't doubt Salvatori's influence has been substantial.

The problem with Halo 4's music is that they tried to distance it from previous Halo music, which was good music, and the person they brought in to do the bulk of the music wasn't known for game music, let alone good game music (or not my knowledge). Bungie still has all of the audio team that worked on Halo and this first Destiny game except for one person (albeit arguably the most important person), and I don't think they'll just up and decide to distance the music in the next game from this one, so I think at least we don't need to worry about it having the same problems as Halo 4.
