PS4 Blind Raid (Destiny)

by cheapLEY @, Friday, May 11, 2018, 19:07 (2186 days ago)

An old friend from the military contacted me today. He'll be in town May 21-24. I won't say I'm definitely out for the raid on the 22nd, but I can't guarantee I'll be there at this point.

I'll gladly give up my spot to someone that can definitely make it. I'm still going to try to be around (unless someone takes my spot), but meeting up with my friend is undoubtedly going to be my priority for those few days.

I'd like to do this still, though the time is still a bit early for me... I'm suddenly nervous that unless I play hard between now and then I'll still be under-levelled for light.

I have no problem making it later.

Dude, I’m probably going to push it or drop out myself. 370 light is just crazy given how the progression works now.

Yeah, that’s the other thing. I honestly don’t know if I’ll get there by then. I’m enjoying Destiny again, so I’ll probabky play decently hard next week, but I’ve been switching to Xbox on alternate nights to bring my Hunter up from 200 PL, just so I don’t get super bored of Mars. And, I’m still getting noticeable stutter on PS4 which doesn’t happen on Xbox.

I’m going to be lucky if I’m even 360 by the 22nd. I’m not going to grind through old raids just for gear. I also don’t really feel like I’m up for banging my head against it while being underleveled. I’ll do my best to be ready, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen.

I'm definitely not telling you how you should feel about doing the old raids for gear and leveling, I just wanted to chime in with a quick counterpoint that the last couple times my group ran the raids (we ran both back to back on Thursday night, and some of us again on Friday for a few who missed some or all of the Thursday night shenanigans, and then both raids again back to back last night) have been probably the most enjoyable raid runs we've had in a long time.

Being able to skate through the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds Lair without more than a wipe or two, and easily getting the challenge modes done has been a lot of fun and has allowed us to joke around about all kinds of stuff while playing together instead of having to completely focus on the mechanics. Top that off with probably 5 power levels worth of leveling up each time, and that's just icing on the cake.

We're not cool enough to play with admins, but cheapLEY has participated in some raid fun on the Xbox side (I hope I'm not outing you, cheapLEY--you seemed like you were enjoying yourself).

I agree with you, speed, it's been fun (of course it wasn't DBO elite-level fun, but fun enough ;)).

It wasn't the admins that made the raid go fast... :D

I know this is mostly in jest, but I (and I can only speak for myself) hope I've never rubbed you the wrong way because of whom I mainly Raid with. We do need to play more, I haven't heard a good Bluerunner story in months!

No, it was fun! That’s sort of my point. I resent feeling like I have to run the old raid to get up to snuff. I enjoy raiding, it’s just something that feels like a chore when I feel obligated to do it, and I’ve avoided feeling obligated to do anything this far in D2–I’d hate to start that now.

It doesn’t help that it seems like the Xbox has become my main platform, and doing stuff on PS4 is just repeating progress I’ve already made on Xbox. That’s a problem of my own making though.

And again, I’ve got a friend in town that’s going to take priority for the week our raid is scheduled. I’m hesistant to start something it’s very likely I won’t finish—I’d love for someone to take my slot so my absence isn’t going to leave five other people high and dry. I’ll hit my PS4 Warlock hard this weekend and try to get leveled up some more, I’m just not sure I’ll be around for actual raid time anyway.

What’s the plan? The chances of me making it to 350 are very slim at this point. I won’t have much time this weekend to make any progress, but I’ll do what I can.

Can we push it back? I’m willing to give a go anyway, but I will be vastly underleveled.
