Alt Title: Five years later; No "One Thousand Voices".

So then, next season looks to potentially wrap a few threads first sewn 5 years ago with Forsaken. Maybe. Who knows. Yeah, it's been 5 years. Pretty wild, eh?

Which brings us to the title meat and potatoes; On the oft chance that there are still folks here who play Destiny... and hey if there isn't, no fault no dig, do as you do...

Is anyone still here that plays Destiny? Intends to play. Or is this clan pretty much dead?

Cheap, we know already... shut up. :P lol

Oh, and by the way. I still want. The giant.-'Splody.-laser gun. And I need to get it soon, as once weeb-oh-matic "loses" or whatever, I'm going to go and play other things.

Well, according to Braytech, there are 30 clan members who've played in the past week, and a chunk more if you go out to a month.

I didn't count, but more than a dozen of those post here occasionally.

So... dead? Probably not. Chatting on a forum where the main topic of conversation is how horrible Destiny is, these days? Maybe not either.

Yeah. Maybe it's just me, but it's kinda strange jumping in with a bunch of clan mates who are basically ghosts. Part of DBO, but doesn't post much, if at all, on DBO is... well, something about that doesn't feel very "clan" to me, but to each their own I suppose.

Well, since our master of lore has long since receded into the net, and we're all so well enough versed at "Destiny the Game" that there is little need for an escort or questions of kit, What else is there to talk about? The occasional video, and... other games?

It's not this forums fault that this iteration of Bungie keeps shitting the bed. We're sad it's gotten this far, and it's frustrating to know how constantly, CONSISTENTLY good they once were. At risk of extreme over simplification, Bungie was on top during Witch Queen. They just needed to do, "more"-"of"-"that". Crazy! Right?! Oh hey that worked... so let's do it again!... Yeah? And THEN, they don't. Repeat ad nauseam in the last decade. What a shit show.

We're the Lord of the Ring Elves, we remember the two trees, and the magic of the world. And we've watched it fade. I would be grateful to read the contrary though, should anyone here have such well thought words. Though, in my recollection, that rarely seems ever the case. In at least my own words, I do not recollect being called out errant in observation t'words the affirmative.

If you have something to say, than speak, but if not, what are you complaining about? It's not the forum. Scary as the thought may be, we're all seemingly by-and-large reasonable compared to the rest of the net, and, well, whatever Korny is. :P lol

I've dropped off, probably playing about .8 times per week the last few months. Then this weekend I got a wild hair and played for hours. Fun game. Will play again.

Seriously, thanks for posting the teaser. My YouTube feed was full of streamers' commentary on it, but the real thing wasn't coming up, even when I went to the official channel. [Sigh]

I've not played since the Halloween event but I usually dip out as each season reaches the end. Once the new season starts, I'll be back - business as usual. Most of the time I have no idea what's going on but the seasonal challenges keep me entertained. I know nothing of wishes.

I'm mostly in it for the story and seasonal missions now. The Imbaru Engine was pretty fun this season, as was Eris's plot. But I played very little outside of those this past 2 seasons. Crota's End refresh is pretty engaging too, but relies too much on the entire fireteam, so it can be a real slog if you get unlucky with them.

After the layoffs, though, even my story excitement dropped close to zero. Heck, I cancelled my Final Shape pre-order.

Let's see how this new season goes.

Looking forward to the new season. Goodness, if TFS is delayed, I sometimes wonder if the game can survive until then.

They've said it's going to run beyond the final shape and announced a move from Seasons (4 a year) to Episodes (3 a year with different scope). But it remains to be seen if that actually happens.

That's my gut impression too. If they want to continue Destiny afterwards, it should have a 3 attached to it and it should tell a new story with a hard break for the current situation.

I never bothered very much. Then I found Mactics channel on YouTube. The DIM link is in the description, open it, save it, make some tweaks if you don't have everything you need. Watch the video for some tips on gameplay. Never had an INSANEDrive to do this, but this takes away the heavy lifting, and has made the game more fun for me.

I probably wouldn't be able to still play this game if it wasn't for builds. Drive or not, it's fun to make or find novel ways to make things blow up, be it ability based, or weapon based. I've even managed to make one of my long least favorite subclasss, solar warlock, into something I actually want to play. And, that's cool.

The other day I purchased the new Call of Duty. It's the first CoD I've bought since MW2. It was kind of an impulse purchase.

*For my liking* the multiplayer is hot garbage. Fwiw, I've always thought it was hot garbage. Just jabronies sprinting around cross map one shotting. Super lame. At least in Destiny, with all the negativity around PvP, it at least has some gunfights and strategy.

I'm about 6 missions into the campaign, and...wow. *For my liking* it's just....so unsatisfying. It's like I went to a really fancy restaurant, ordered a prime rib sandwich and they bring my a quarter pounder. I'll still eat it, and it will be delicious, but I know it's shit and provides zero nutritional value. The mission objectives have zero thought put into them. The "open missions" are placed in a very small area, which usually just consists of looking for something while endless waves of enemies come at you, making exploration no fun. Linear mission are not at all intuitive and while it requires you to behave in a certain way...it's not AT ALL the way this person would behave in the actual situation. In Destiny, even in the "get the chores done" missions (as a campaign or not) there is true open world interaction and enemy mechanics to consider.

CoD is the first shooter campaign I've purchased outside of Destiny in a LOOOONG time and I've definitely taken the quality of Destiny for granted.

You bought literally the first CoD game to get universally negative reviews (1.7/10 average user reviews lol), averaging 5.5/10 from publications. Of all games in the franchise, this one was the most rushed and content-lacking ever, reportedly churned out in just over a year of dev time.

*For my liking* the multiplayer is hot garbage. Fwiw, I've always thought it was hot garbage. Just jabronies sprinting around cross map one shotting. Super lame. At least in Destiny, with all the negativity around PvP, it at least has some gunfights and strategy.

While the core MP playlists have been poop for ages, there’s a lot of gold in the game to enjoy in short controlled bursts. Lockdown Quads is extremely fun with friends, the Battle Royale is special with the proximity chat, and the DMZ mode can be a great “turn your brain off and do Patrol missions” or “hunt other players with your friends”, and everything in between. And that’s without getting into LTMs that range from okay (Resurgence) to God-tier (Armored Royale).
But the sad thing for you is that all of these playlists are free. Paying for CoD? You could have just spent $20 on a fun bundle and run around as a cat soldier.

Again, you bought a glorified expansion that repurposes The Battle Royale map for filler missions. Any other CoD campaign puts Destiny to absolute shame, even the crappier ones like Advanced Warfare. Once the games are on Gamepass, I hear Infinite Warfare’s campaign is unique among the rest, so I’ll be checking that one out.

Yo homey we been rollin' Warzone for years. Just the other night my 4 player squad got two victories in a row. First time that's ever happened for us. Each game with about 25 combined kills.

All joking aside, we are a group of dads and are NOT good at Warzone, so wins are a big deal.

I beat the campaign. What a steaming pile of dog crap. It was a 3 hour campaign, maybe? I wouldn't be surprised if someone who is good could do it in 1 hour. A speedrunner in 20 minutes.

The timeline structure was super confusing. The missions were boring. I actually feeled robbed of $70.

So, the reporting is that this was planned to just be DLC for last year’s Modern Warfare 2, and then execs changed their mind and they had to scramble to make it a full game. The studio put out an official statement refuting that, saying MW3 is the result of 3 years of hard work, which is a terrible statement because it makes everyone there look like incompetent morons if this is legitimately what they could put together in 3 years.

by EffortlessFury @, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, 11:13 (158 days ago) @ ManKitten

I've always consistently maintained the opinion that Destiny has the best FPS gunplay on the market since D1's release, bar none. It's the gameplay loop and systems that pushed me away. I just don't have the time to make it the hobby it wants me to make it. I wish I could participate in high-difficulty endgame content without having to chase the ceiling every season, and even though I think that has improved in this year of Destiny 2, it's too late for me.

If anyone's interested, I learned earlier that there's some Raid weapons I'm missing(like TIMEPIECE) that I'd like to get. Something, something, nostalgia's sake?

I left before The Witch Queen, and I'll be honest; I'm too far behind to try and catch up. I'm considering at least doing the required missions, but the only reason I could see myself getting back onto D2 (and discovering the horrors of how wrecked my precious build has become) is if enough people want to do Deep Stone Crypt again.
