Confused by the highest level character stat.
So the big number after the percentage, is that total population? By my rudimentary math, that seems to say there are only a million players.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure DestinyTracker only tracks you if you have entered your gamertag/psnid before.

I was going to say, over half the population completing VoG on hard didn't seem right.

According to Activision's recent earnings call, as of March 31 Destiny has more than 20 million registered users playing an average of about three hours a day.
My WAG is that the active player count is probably only half that (or less) though.

Agreed. I've always been amazed at how well Bungie nailed that. They've done some gun tweaking but hardly any (noticeable) class and ability tweaking.
Then again... how many people have all three classes in their slots?
I happen to only have two warlocks. Give me another lifetime and I'll spin up more classes...

Yup, one of each for me. They all play beautifully and are different enough that I don't mind having my thumb in all the pies. Though master class is obviously warlock. I mean, obviously.
Regional Stats are also nice.

You have to register to use this feature, but its nice to compare yourself on different levels.
I was curious about my stats since ToO is connection priority matchmaking. You can either rank yourself nationally, by state, or even city. On average of the folks tracking stats in Lousiana, I'm in the top 1/3rd and my best categories are kill distance and longest life. I rarely use snipers or scout rifles too, but I prefer to keep my distance. I also retreat alot.
Oh and I'm number ONE in New Roads, LA.
Regional Stats are also nice.
