Yeah, I shouldn't speak so harshly… it's just frustrating when it doesn't work. Especially when you've been trying it for a while. There are a handful of matches I've played – even before this recent update – where I focused my attention with auto rifles. This is just the first one that stood out so broadly. And my first Automatic, too? Solid proof still overlooked. I just want to get this part of the quest over with--I'm pretty sure it's been in my page longer than any of the others.

Weird - the questline took me a long time (took EVERYONE a long time, because it's really long), but the Auto requirement was actually one of the easier ones, for me. I don't use/like ARs much at all - but when I got to that, I equipped Suros Regime, and went to town. I actually did consistently better (in each of the 6 games) than my average.

Of course, I did it before 2.1.0 dropped... when it still worked. :)

I'm sorry it's broken - I hope they fix it soon, for your sanity. :)

It's a stupid stupid Crucible quest for all characters. You have to complete multiple(as in yes, plural) matches of you getting a large number of kills with every weapon type in the game. It's pointless.

Just be happy you didn't have to also win those matches like when I completed it.

It's not pointless at all. Not only does it push most of us out of our comfort range, making us try weapon types we might have avoided otherwise, completing the quest provides access to 10 new weekly bounties unobtainable by folks who haven't completed it (6 from Shaxx, 4 from the Crucible Quartermaster), giving each of your characters access to quite a bit more rep every week.

Yeah, but for someone who sucks at half of the weapon types it might actually be good practice for me :-)

Is it right after the crucible quest where you have to complete each game type?

I'm doing that stupid Weapon Master quest and the first step is of course the most difficult: 6 kills with an auto rifle. I've been attempting this on and off for a long time, thinking I was only getting 4 or 5 AR kills. But I just played a Rumble match, where I focused ONLY on the auto.

18 kills, 16 of them with the Auto Rifle. I even got an Automatic, my very first.

Which means I got almost three times the amount needed for one match--still didn't count. What the hell is going on?

Huh? what quest is this? I've never heard of it.

Look at 2nd place--the Lightning Bolt guy--he's got 19 kills, but the page only accounts for eight.

Meh.

Nah, you don't have to win any more (this was changed in Update 2.0.2 - search for 'Crucible Forged Quest 7').

It also says 14 of the kills were with the auto rifle, one with a melee, and 2 with a super. I'm not sure what might have happened to that last kill. :)
