I'm most interested in Super balance (reply)

Today I noticed that somehow I was right at the edge of leveling up House of Judgement so I played a single matchmake of Prison of Elders. Oh man, I was just completely and totally bored. Not because it was super easy, though it was, but because my teammates were a pair of Stormcallers who at the start of each wave would light up their supers and completely clear every single enemy. For 90% of the time there was absolutely nothing for me to do.

Really, Storm Trance is just woefully overpowered. It seems to last as long as any Super. It is way, way more powerful than most Supers. It is extremely easy to use since it chains from enemy to enemy. And it generates Orb of Light like crazy. Anybody playing a Bladedance has got to be seething my now. Arc Blade struggles to kill a singly yellow bar enemy and might generate an two Orbs while a single use of Storm Trance pretty much kills everything everywhere.

The other thing I'd like to see, of course, is more love given to the Defender Titans. I'll stop playing Destiny until the Fall Update if that graph that showed Defender Usage and Defender K/D has changed from Defenders being basically nonexistent. Giving back a grenade and melee charge when someone has just lit up pretty much any other Super simply does not cut it. I love my Defender. Defender is my preferred class in PvE. But trying to bring a Defender into the Crucible and personally do well is a fools errand. Especially in game modes like Mayhem where all Ward of Dawn is highlight where the enemy should nuke to kill you and your team. Like I said, I love my Defender, but I have given up on the subclass for Crucible action...

Oh, please, can it be both? Then I can use my Stormcaller to make it rain bonus points.

Backwards? (reply)

I remember them saying Level 41 has treasure room. Challenge mode does not.

Does this sound backwards to anyone else?

No, it sounds exactly like Trials and Crucible.

So the challenge mode, which is semi-competitive because of the scoring system and the lack of loot, features no matchmaking, so you have to bring your own fireteam to compete against.

This is exactly like Trials: You grab a card and try to do the best you can. You have to grab friends because this is an upper tier PoE.

Level 4x PoE has a new treasure room without keys and with no weekly limits on loot, but does matchmaking, so if you don't bring a full fireteam you'll end up with randoms.

That really, really seems like it should be the other way around. I should be playing with friends to get sweet loot we can share.

You can, you just invite your friends... I don't know if you know this, but your friends only play with you if you invite them, regardless of match making or not :D

I should be poaching kills from randoms to try and be Top Guardian.

Go back to Crucible!

Backwards? (reply)

The wording led me to believe Challenges were cumulative for the entire fireteam. As in, the fireteam has a score, which then transfers to your individual card.

I think if they've balanced the chalenge mode scoring appropriately the implication is you won't get that on the first go. It might be a 15 minute thing, but you will fail, or you will know that you are in a fail state after 2 rounds, and restart.

At least I hope it reaches that difficulty :)

So much of the quality of this comes down to the balance of the difficulty on it. Do you actually need to play to those things?

I also like point systems because they can give a lot of flexibility design wise. The could encourage movement with point elements to collect around the map. THere could be VIPS to take out, or even light raid mechanics.

But it all revolves around balance, and if they make it really difficult for a large swath of players. I'm a little disappointed they only have one tier of challenge, as a second level that really pushes the envelope could add quite a bit.
