Seriously, they are likely going to have PlayStation exclusives EVERY SINGLE TIME content is released until at least Year 3. It was obvious from the moment they announced The Taken King.

I expect to bring up this same reminder the next time an exclusive is announced and the same bunch of folks start complaining.

And I will continue to look down on PS every time they release exclusive content.

Business is business. Nobody on Xbox was complaining about how unfair it was for Playstation folks to get content later every time there were exclusives. It took over a year for Bioshock to get released on Playstation, and five years for Mass Effect to see a release. Nobody on Xbox was mad at Microsoft. Now that it's on the other side...

I think that's stupid too! I don't think anyone should be kept from playing great games just because of their preference in consoles.

I'm pretty sure that at the time of the deal, Sony didn't know that PS4 would be outselling Xbone 2:1. We don't know what the deal was. For all we know, they secured content exclusivity for all of the Destiny games over the next ten years.

That's true. I'm more referring to post-vanilla. I play on the XBox because I prefer it. I will continue playing on the XBox because it's what I like. If for some reason Destiny dropped XBox in the future, I would probably stop playing Destiny.

Anyway, back to waiting for a weapon that will probably be crap by the time it comes to XBone.

I'm genuinely sorry about Hawkmoon. I really hope that Bungie decides to reactivate the Magic Bullet, given the five other nerfs that they gave it...

The funny thing is, I never cared for Hawkmoon. I have no interest in handcannons. So it really didn't affect me. Exclusive content pisses me off and not being able to use a weapon that is cool pisses me off. Hawkmoon was the prior, this new sniper is both.

I agree entirely. Exclusive content is annoying, and gamers would be far better off without it, but it has always been around as long as preorder bonuses and multiplatform games have existed. And if we get cross-plat gaming, the console-exclusive content will only become a bigger priority. At least the way it is now, players don't have to worry about unbalanced games because of console.

In general US law is in favor of not price fixing (History from the Anti-Trust movement) and prefers the Market to set pricing through competition. The exceptions generally center around areas where the consumer has no alternatives (monopolies and antitrust laws), where the Government has tampered with the ecosystem (Public entities, charters, and grants of public funds), or where the supply and demand is so out of whack that it leads to exorbitant pricing for necessary public goods (Price gouging, Disasters and states of emergency, times when negotiation is not done in good faith, at arms length, etc.).

It's usually not phrased that way, but ironically, social equality can sometimes lead to legally mandated pricing equality (Fair housing acts, non-discrimination acts) but those are usually measuring equality across a single product (do they price things depending on who the customer is as an individual regarding a protected classification like Age, sex, Race, religion, etc.) not across the horizontal (measuring price equality between companies or products.)

Probably not. Yes. My question is, is it ok for a dev to treat some players to more content than others based on something so arbitrary as console choice? Everyone pays the same amount of money.

I've had gaming experiences in the past, which I really liked, destroyed by online communities. The reason was I'd go "learn" about the game but essentially just go read a bunch of negative crap, that vastly outweighed the real information I gained. It basically soured my attitude towards the game.

I think the PS4 exclusives can do that to a degree as well if you let it.

If it bothers you enough, buy a PS4. If not, walk away. Treat it like the gun that will simply not drop for you. And be happy that said gun isn't being used against you. There's not much difference really.

I don't think buying a PS4 solves the "problem" it only proves that kind of content excusivity works to move specific hardware. It doesn't bother me, not really anyway, I just saw it as an interesting conversation. :)

I'm missing a few things too, not bitter either. It's not the RNG (that's another topic) it's locking players from getting it entirely based on platform preference. That's an interesting ethical decision to me.

Correct. When TTK was announced, they also showed the PlayStation exclusives that were slated to begin Year 2 of exclusives (it said "at least Fall 2016").

Come Fall, Year 2 exclusives will be available, and a possible Year 3 of exclusives will begin. People will still be surprised.
