... if you don't already have one. I'm guessing there will eventually be a brawler version of Challenge of Elders where melee hits get the bonus. Monte Carlo will come in handy - damage the boss to build melee energy

I'm not really a fan of Monte Carlos--the perks don't interest me, the gun looks silly and bland, and it's an Auto Rifle that has the gall to call itself Exotic. But against my better judgement, I bought one with my 13 coins, knowing you were probably right about the Brawler challenge.

So I'm doing Challenge of Elders today, and I beat the last boss of the activity. My Three of Coins pops a primary Exotic engram, and guess what.

I swear, this game is trying to give me a stroke...

I got a much better roll on Young Ahamkara's Spine a couple of weeks ago. Int/disc with hand cannon loader. When I say better, I mean they have the stat split and ammo/loader rolls I want. If I already have the rolls, his usually aren't as good, but if he has the rolls I want I'll buy it. It's better than burning though tons of armor materials to get the roll I want.

Even if you have the armor, check to see if he's offering better rolls than what you have. The only thing you lose in infusing is the experience (or motes) to refill the nodes.

I used to do this religously, but the Xur-sold stuff was always bottom-of-the-barrel, rollwise. (I actually sort of assumed that was on purpose; you could buy it if you didn't get it any other way, but it wouldn't be as good as the stuff you got via RNG.)

Helm of Inmost Light: 63 Intellect, mine is 83 (started at 67I, 17S).
Lucky Rasberry: 47I, 45D, mine started at 79D, with 20 extra points for D or I when full.
Purifier Robes: Hmm. I seem to have deleted mine accidentally. :( Can't compare.

Anyway, I've been doing this comparison for months, and I have never, EVER seen a Xur roll that beat what I already had. It's great if you get something you never had before - but it's rarely if ever good for replacing what you've got. That's my experience, anyway. :)

Keep in mind too that the exotic armor kiosk rerolls the armor too. Another good way to improve your rolls. I burned way too many armor materials with glass needles before I figured that out.

Nah, light levels are unchanged. Just int/dis/str rolls can be improved over the item you have, or the other non-exotic nodes.
