That said, redoing Marathon in Minecraft because both are made of blocks did sound pretty clever. :)

Was wondering about that. We imported Marathon levels into Minecraft using BinVox, and then just manually replaced blocks with ones with modified textures.

The idea of creating that much geometry just by eyeballing things and manually placing blocks seems pretty daunting to me.

Let's Tour Destiny in Minecraft

Infered5 posted about this last week on the Destiny subreddit so I thought we would have a look. He's using a couple server-side mods to recreate the Destiny experience in Minecraft. So far he has the Tower, the Reef, a big chunk of the Cosmodrome, and a test area on the Moon to play in.

The game includes classes, about 40 weapons, and the ability to take bounties, kill enemies, collect glimmer, and decode engrams.

Note: we have added some music and sound effects from the game to enhance your viewing experience; these are not present on the server as the game is running vanilla Minecraft 1.8.8 on a server with certain plugins and a custom texture pack, but no client-side mods.
