Delivering Hope: Lone Wolves are fine (reply)

If all these affairs could be done lone wolf, even if it was with fair amount of difficulty, I would be right with ya Wu. Yet, it's not, and this is why Bungie made their "Guided Games" system for Destiny 2. Bungie is tenably aware the issue exists, and it's a shame there might not be a simple solution that could only be done due to the waning months left.

Rellekh got 100% for her book without any Raid nodes filled out. She also only filled two crucible-related nodes (one for finding Ghosts in the crucible and one for getting kills in the crucible ). She also did it all in the time span of a week. It is totally possible to lone-wolf your path to the t-shirt.

Record

She has since gotten Efrideet's approval, the win Control matches, general win nodes, and kills as Warlock/Hunter/Titan nodes because she played the game during Iron Banner week. None of those were filled out when she got 100% and all of those are still achievable lone-wolf things.

All that to say, it's not out of reach.

Conclusion! (reply)

Muh words in Blue!

Here's a simple question for you:

Do you believe that there are no potential programming hurdles to multiple 'featured raids'?

I have to admit, I did not once for a moment consider this. Usually I'm pretty good about this sort of thing. Perhaps that is telling.
(That is: do you believe that there is no coding that might be necessary to allow more than one (well, in your mind, ALL) raids to be treated as the 'featured' raid each week (which would be required to remove the time gates you're complaining about), and do you think that coding (and the required certification of the changes, etc) is the best use of their time, at this stage in Destiny's life?)

... and the back end stuff.
Here's the thing. None of us know exactly why the time gates still exist - Bungie hasn't told us. So you're asking for speculation, but you're asking for it in a way that suggests that the only RATIONAL answer is yours - that there shouldn't be any time gates at this point. I'm simply asking you to consider that there might be practical, completely not-player-related reasons. In the past, they've definitely DONE things like this (relaxed restrictions at end-of-life), so the fact that they're not suggests (to me) that there are other factors involved.

This I do have something to say for, as I know that what I ask is ultimately a speculative affair. I wouldn't have put the effort if I was asking anywhere else on the net. What can I say, I enjoy the intelligent discordance, the observations and input that seem all so few elsewhere on the net. I ask because there can be something I missed. And what do ya know, first reply - and I did. I'm not sure If I understand how my words denote a suggestion that only my answer is rational, and it certainly isn't why I made a point to speak these observations in the first place. I gave my "Why" to see if holes could be poked in the logic, as maybe there isn't something I missed, just my logic flawed.
I'm not Bungie. I have zero inside information about this topic. But if it were me, and if doing this wasn't trivial, I'd probably say "well, we've been telling them that August 1 is the deadline for the shirt achievements for many, many months now, so it's not like they haven't had multiple opportunities to complete each circle on that page. We have a lot on our plate - the Destiny 2 Beta, trade shows galore, the launch of Destiny 2. There simply isn't time to make this happen on our end. If they've left things to the last minute, but don't HAVE a last minute, I guess they didn't really want the shirt."

That's what I would say. And as someone who has, many many times in my life, left things to the last minute and then griped when I wasn't given extra opportunities to make up for that procrastination, I completely understand how it feels to face a deadline I know I can't make. But in the end, it's not their job to accommodate you here. Sorry if that sounds harsh. :(

Oh! No worries! Even if I did feel you were being aggressive and harsh, I know you mean well. You're a gentle giant Wu. ^_^

Thank you.

What a joke on XB1 owners. (reply)

I didn't listen to that podcast. I've already accepted that XB1/XB1X interoperability is limited by the XB1 as far as framerate goes. PS family have the same problem.

That's not the reason Xenos talked about. If I recall, he posited that the Xbox One X, like the PS4 Pro, has the CPU limitations that prohibit Destiny from running 4K at 60 fps.

Why is no one asking about 1080p60?

Because it wouldn't make a difference.

Try it yourself on a PC: run a game at a super low resolution and note the framerate. Now move up to the next highest but still low resolution.

Huh. The framerate stays the same. How can that be when the game is rendering more? It's because at that point it's CPU bound. The CPU has to generate display lists to send to the GPU, calculate AI, physics, input, IO, and shit like that. It will hit a point where you can add as much GPU power as you want, but it won't be able to feed the GPU any faster.

Bungie has said Des2ny is CPU bound on consoles, which means no 60fps, even at 144p.

That being said, I think the fact that the crucible can't run at 60fps is bullshit, since all the complexity of the co-op component is gone, and games like Overwatch manage just fine on a regular PS4.
