It also reminded me of the moon in that I probably will entirely miss it like I did the moon because I'm not part of the 9-5 M-F rat race deathstyle. Pft. At least it is announced in advance(ish) this time.

Last time around I was part of some sort of Alpha. I'm fuzzy on the details, which consoles I played on and how I took part in it. IIRC, it was not full on open to the public, but I don't think it was preorder based either. Was there some sort of sign up?

D1's Alpha was PS only and they gave out some codes for it, part of which you had to sign up on Playstation's site, but I believe they gave out some codes on the forum too.

Anyway, is there an alpha for D2 I should have signed up for? Or maybe they feel more confident in the tech this time around? Or maybe there was an alpha and all of you are under NDA.

Nope, Alpha was much more private this time, saw a few employees say it was internal only.

They talked about "alpha" on the latest Bungie Podcast. Essentially, it's an internal-only warmup for the Public Beta to make sure things are working properly. You're not missing anything.

I'm guessing it's precisely what was playable both at the Destiny 2 Launch Event and at E3. (Not sure about Subclasses - just talking play spaces.)

I think I'm okay with no Patrol, even, mostly because that will leave more of the final game to explore. Being able to completely consume the Cosmodrome during D1 Beta was fun, but left little to explore once D1 shipped.
