Modifiers for the heroic stuff/Vanguard strikes included solar singe and brawler. Brawler's melee recharge buff stacks with Playing with Fire, so... yeah...

If you have Ophidia Spathe you can throw knives even faster. I ran heroic missions just throwing knives.

I don't think I'm going to switch from my Shards of Galanor now though. I've been chaining supers like crazy with them.
