This is for the unlikely scenario where enough pieces fall into place: namely, I buy a new Mac or Macbook with eGPU, cross-saves become a thing, etc.

I should think once you claim it you own it regardless, but I'm not familiar with battle.net.

Believe so. Should probably go in and start the download and as long as it starts, you should be good.
