There are lots and lots of good tools out there. Some of them run ads to pay the bills, some are run by people who simply absorb the costs. I don't really have an opinion either way about this - I was just struck by the entitlement of Cody's post. :)

It made me click a frowny face and tried to make feel like a dick because I choose to block ads.

Hosting costs money. They built a nice tool, but don't happen to be rich enough to pay all of the costs, and know that if they made their tool subscription-based, they'd get 0 visitors. So they opted for ads.

I bet if you sent them $20 via paypal they'd find a way to remove that notification for you.

Yes, my question is “since when?” It didn’t previously work that way.

I feel like it's been two seasons or so since they changed to that system (post 1300 soft cap), and it especially sucks that it no longer kicks in at the soft cap like before (or rather, it likely still uses the 1230 Beyond Light softcap as the basis for Legendaries being on-level).

In slowing down the people at cap at the end of each season, Bungie has outright punished anyone below that level with an increased grind, which is poop.

Legendaries/rares are on level until 1310, minus vendor drops which are always 20 behind. IMO that's fine, it really doesn't take long to ffind a drop for a gap, especially if you do something like pvp.

Don’t think that’s the case anymore. At 1283 base, Legendaries/Umbrals/rares are dropping at 1281, Consistently two below your base level. Given that you can also no longer pull at-level armor from the Season Pass, leveling is almost entirely relegated to Primes and Pinnacles, even on your way to the soft cap, which was previously not the case

In any case, I don’t think I even got close to the Pinnacle climb during that year except for Arrivals, so I just never noticed the change.

I do not think that’s true. I feel like I remember stuff in the Contact public event dropping at my power level.

Powerful rewards are equivalent to the character’s highest-equippable Power beyond this point

The Seasonal Artifact bonus Power allows characters to attain values above this level

I didn't really play arrivals, so I'm not sure if there were some sneaky powerfuls in there. I do know that Crucible/Strikes/Gambit have a random chance of dropping a powerful on completion so that can make it confusing too.

Yes, 1310 is the soft cap. That didn't used to prevent stuff from dropping at your power level once you had broken through the soft cap. At 1314, I would have previously been getting 1312 or 1313 drops from regular engrams, but only Pinnacles would have dropped above that.

I don't remember every purple dropping at light after pinnacles became a thing, but I do share your impression that it was more common.

I have to assume it might have been with Beyond Light, or perhaps the season following. I think Beyond Light was when they nerfed turning in Tokens to Zavala and Shaxx to get on level drops, so maybe this change was at the same time. With Beyond Light and last season, I basically got to the start of the Pinnacle climb and just stopped paying attention, so I never noticed the change.
