Useless number (reply)

Linky

The remainder of the $500 million went into food, me thinks.

From the start this 500 mil been taken as gospel, but there's a pretty high chance that it's bullshit. Look at how the number was delivered, it wasn't part of a financial statement, it was a throwaway line in a Kotick speech. It was elaborated on, so we don't know how many games that covers, how much infrastructure that covers, how much in royalties to Bungie it covers. It's intentionally vague, because it's marketing, it's saying "Look how big this is, get excited!" That's somewhat problematic, but not worth the doomsaying that people have engaged in over it.
