Doesn't look very ranged. There is a degree of range, but its about an arms distance so it doesn't count.

That gif looks more like a melee burst. The original gif bluerunner posted sends out a directed wave.

So now I'm wondering what we're going to be up against when I consider how nasty a high-level fireteam is going to look in a full-on battle fury.

What are we going to be facing that won't simply be melted by a combination of what we've seen already?

Further, what will high-level crucible matches be like? The defense/buffs side of things must be pretty potent.

I already knew this was the case, but man Hunters are vulnerable while using their supers, even with Bladedancer. Made me a little anxious whenever I'd pop Golden Gun in the Beta, because you never know when you're going to get sniped or rocketed before you got the shot off. Not that I'm complaining, I actually enjoyed that rush compared to the Titan and Warlock supers.

Me too. Whatever it is is going to have to be obscenely dangerous (hopefully) in order to be a challenge. I hope they look the part too. Exciting.
