That's exactly how I got my 331 Thorn and Bad Juju. Carried the last step of their bounties over from vanilla Destiny. Since the weapon isn't given to you until you turn in the bounty (after killing Xyor in this case), it should give you the latest/greatest version.

I've got xyor waiting in my queue, have for a while. Would be interested in seeing if a pre-ascended thorn drops or not, I assume it will.

I should be around (very?) late this evening or tomorrow evening.
