Arise, You Titan of the deep...
Arise from your cold and ending sleep...

"Under Mount Etna he lies,
It is slumber, it is not death;
For he struggles at times to arise,
And above him the lurid skies
Are hot with his fiery breath.
The crags are piled on his breast,
The earth is heaped on his head;
But the groans of his wild unrest,
Though smothered and half suppressed,
Are heard, and he is not dead.
And the nations far away
Are watching with eager eyes;
They talk together and say,
"To-morrow, perhaps to-day,
Euceladus will arise!
And the old gods, the austere
Oppressors in their strength,
Stand aghast and white with fear
At the ominous sounds they hear,
And tremble, and mutter, "At length!"
Ah me! for the land that is sown
With the harvest of despair!
Where the burning cinders, blown
From the lips of the overthrown
Enceladus, fill the air.
Where ashes are heaped in drifts
Over vineyard and field and town,
Whenever he starts and lifts
His head through the blackened rifts
Of the crags that keep him down.
See, see! the red light shines!
'T is the glare of his awful eyes!
And the storm-wind shouts through the pines
Of Alps and of Apennines,
"Enceladus, arise!" "

Wow, VERY interesting.

You're either on to something, or this is one hell of a coincidence.

That's incredibly interesting and I hope it's not purely coincidental. They put so much thought into this stuff.

Wow!

There's NO way this can be coincidence.

So, you're suggesting that Enceladus is the Traveller? Even without knowing any context or significance, that sounds awesome, haha.

Nice, makes sense, I mean if the UESC Marathon can be a lump of rock orbiting Mars, why can't this be Enceladus? It certainly fits with Bungies storytelling.

..I really need to catch up with what's been discovered so far in regards to Destiny, is misriahsolutions the best current compendium on theories and titbits?

It is indeed an exciting prospect and the interesting patterning on the Traveller could be explained by the processing of resources that could very well have been done on Enceladus in the Destiny timeline.

It's likely that water is a precious resource in the future, so could there be mining and industry on that moon? A wild thought could be that some ancient artefact / being was disturbed deep within the catacombs of Enceladus like Pathways into Darkness?

Possible confirmation?

A recent concept art release shows an event occurring at Saturn:

So now that we know that some part of the story involves a disaster/conflict at Saturn, does this mean Enceladus will become part of the story in some way, if not, the traveller itself?

I wanted to punch that guy for not being able to pronounce Cassini right.

On a planet with 70% of its surface covered by liquid water, water somehow becomes a precious resource? No.

Water is one of the most common chemical compounds in the universe - it's made of Hydrogen and Oxygen and these are both pretty much everywhere in some form or another.

Even in a situation where, for whatever reason, all the water on the planet is poisoned, we have a multitude of ways to purify it.

70% water, and a pretty enormous percentage of that is undrinkable. Yeah, there are processes for purification, but depending on the scale you're talking about, that can go from inconvenient to logistically impossible pretty quickly.

Clean water is one of the looming threats our civilization faces now. There are plenty of places throughout the world that have limited or no access to it. It's far from inconceivable that it would become scarce in the future, especially if we're supplying intra-solar colonies. If the moons of Saturn have water, then it'd be a lot easier to extract it from there for transport to Jovian bases, or research facilities at Pluto, than to bring it all the way from Earth.
