That "hardcore gamers ('particularly Xbox fans')" bit makes me wonder if it's something to do with Destiny's multiplayer suite (would a multiplayer reveal count as a game reveal?).

Probably just an Aerospace (RIP) iOS puzzle game that rips off Dots... or 3D VR Tic-Tac-Toe, exclusive to Occuulus Rift, OUYA, and Xbox One!
