Improvised Machine Wrath (Fireteam Builder Events)

by Morpheus @, High Charity, Sunday, April 09, 2017, 18:38 (2535 days ago)

I know everyone's busy with Ah-theon this weekend, so I've decided to post a WoTM Fireteam Event for 10:00 tonight. This way, we don't have to pull our hair out about challenges. Normal or Heroic, it doesn't matter--I just want to get it done!

You just love swimming against the current, don't you?

  • When everyone was buying Pokemon Blue, I immediately got Red.
  • When Playstation 2 was the hottest thing ever made, I bought(well, asked for) a Dreamcast.
  • I've been a Covenant Elite for 13 years running.
  • When the line wrapped around the theater for Magic Mike had more guys in it than women, guess who pre-ordered opening night tickets for Ted?
  • All the Magic the Gathering cards and Digimon episodes couldn't hold a candle to my single Obelisk the Tormentor. ;-)
  • McDonald's fries? Hell no. Rally's!
  • My dream car isn't a Mercedes—It's an xB.
  • You put pepperoni on your pizza. I have some pepperoni...with my spinach pizza.
  • While everyone attacks S.A.B.E.R. from the severs, I'm on the clear opposite side!

Ketchup on grits, sleeping face down since birth, running Windows...

If it weren't genetic, I think I'd need help.

And don't even get me started about video game mascots.

  • When everyone was buying Pokemon Blue, I immediately got Red.

Someone who got Blue was the odd-man out. Why get a dang fat turtle when you could get a Charizard-themed cartridge?
That said, once Yellow came out, I was all about getting my surfing Pikachu.

[*]When Playstation 2 was the hottest thing ever made, I bought(well, asked for) a Dreamcast.

Dang hipsters and their Typing of the Dead. I had an N64 until Xbox came out.

[*]I've been a Covenant Elite for 13 years running.

Doesn't count if the franchise support for Elites died in 2010.

[*]When the line wrapped around the theater for Magic Mike had more guys in it than women, guess who pre-ordered opening night tickets for Ted?

It made $20 million on opening night compared to Magic Mike's $19 million. If anything, you were part of the majority.

[*]McDonald's fries? Hell no. Rally's!

Is there a single person who honestly prefers McDonald's fries to Checkers/Rally's (or Central Park)? Heck, even Burger King has better fries than Mcdonalds.

[*]My dream car isn't a Mercedes—It's an xB.

I drive an xB for work sometimes. It's a dang solid car, dumb looks aside. Still a Toyota.

[*]You put pepperoni on your pizza. I have some pepperoni...with my spinach pizza.

Yeah, Spinach is a great go-to when you don't know what the final topping should be. It makes it healthier while retaining the pizza taste! Pretty common down here.

And don't even get me started about video game mascots.

Found the Azurik fan...

All that upstreaming got me a sexy new Genesis Chain! I also got the Raid Chest and Boots.

A friendly observation:

You don't like doing what most people want to do.

You don't like when people don't want to do what you're doing.

I have aspects of this in my own personality, so I can relate (somewhat).

Still, seems a little problematic.

You don't like doing what most people want to do.

You don't like when people don't want to do what you're doing.

If you're in the minority, do what the others want to do, make passive-aggressive comments, and if/when their plan falls through, be sure to make sarcastic remarks about it. If your own method works, be sure to gloat, but keep it subtle. It's what I do, and I find that it has a 100% success rate of making things fun for everyone!

I have aspects of this in my own personality, so I can relate (somewhat).

It's unhealthy, but in Morpheus's defense, he seems to be able to roll with the criticisms (and do his own thing at others' expense). Most people would look to surround themselves with the people who simply agree with them. From the looks of it, people don't mind that so much about him, as he's honest with them about it, and they eventually succeed.

Still, seems a little problematic.

Funny how our quirks translate into many aspects of our lives...

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Morpheus wanted to do a Machine Wrath raid, ostensibly just because he likes going against the current in other aspects of his life... And he probably didn't want to use the same strategies as those joined him in that raid, which adds to the comedy.

You don't like doing what most people want to do.

I wouldn't say that—sometimes I get a little frustrated by repeated failure, but I very frequently take part in activities I sign up for/am invited to, whether I want to join or not. I always accept party invites on the spot, unless I miss it in the restroom or down in the kitchen or something. Earlier this week I offered to help you with Templar, which unfortunately didn't go smoothly, but I came to help. I didn't want to do Templar challenge, but I saw your FTB had only 3 or 4 people, and I know from experience how painful it is to almost have a full team, but not enough to do the raid. So I offered. Just last night, Wu and I were doing the Nightfall, and Nico came in and asked to do The Challenge of Elders. I didn't want to, but I said "Hey, I'm with friends, the modifiers are decent, we might be able to do this relatively quickly." We ended up having plenty of fun, and just hung out. (I'm up for it again this week, the mods are even better!) So things sometimes turn out bad, sometimes good. But unless it's Trials, you'd be hard-pressed to invite me and hear me say 'no'.

You don't like when people don't want to do what you're doing.

Now that's true.

I have aspects of this in my own personality, so I can relate (somewhat).

My mom thinks I'm autistic, and was misdiagnosed ADHD as a child. I want to believe her, but then again all her female friends think I'm gay.

For the record, that first observation wasn't based on any recent experience with you, other than you wanting to organize a WotM raid the week everyone was working on VoG and your own comments in this thread.

Just not one of your mom's guy friends... not that there's anything wrong with that.
