Honestly, I never saw the appeal. The music was standard pop fare. Her entire image seemed deliberate and manufactured.

I mean, she's fine. I never disliked her exactly. Just never saw the appeal.

There's a really interesting discussion somewhere in here about the ephemerality of stardom. Is she really so different now, or has her relevance in pop culture simply passed?

I know Taylor Swift is sort of a thing around here. I really do love her music, but the “worship” from me is mostly a funny joke that grew from this place. Celebrity worship is absolutely bonkers.

Her new album is great. I don’t care what anyone says.

I will say that I’m a Carly Rae Jepsen convert. I didn’t know about it at the time, but her album Emotion is actually a better pop record than 1989.
