This was way more of a challenge than I expected. That final encounter was just the worst. I think if we take out (or reduce the damage of) one item those damn heat-seeking missles I'd enjoy it a lot more.

P.S. - Sorry for the crotch shot...jk I'm not sorry.

Well, yes. We did. Also, yes, those missiles are murder! We had one heck of a final run though. In classic fashion I believe it was a "just keep going" set of near losses capped by an unexpected victory.

Is SpeedRacer, Venom? Is there a Destiny/Marvel crossover I missed?

Heh. It's just the Celestial Nighthawk helmet with Dead Orbit shaders on everything. :-)

Congrats!! Out of curiosity, which DPS strategy did you use?

Close-in shotguns from either side of the boss
Medium range Wardcliff Coil from back (glass) center
Long range snipers from the corner rooms
Something else?

We actually did a little bit of all of those.

We had two titans with shotguns and melting point, 1 wardcliff and everyone else had a mash up of weapons in the corner rooms with rifts + luna boots

We also had two warlocks with novas for the melting point.

Wow, sounds chaotic but fun!

The nova pairs well with melting point + tractor cannon + lunafaction; I emptied my void shotgun until he slammed me into the air (at which point I nova'ed and ran away).

Yeah. We tried to group up all in one rift and then split 3x3, but we kept dying to the missiles. So we spread out 2x2x1x1 and had much more success.

A group of us with Chappy got our first clear last night. The amount of different things that can and will go wrong in the final seconds is staggering. We've got the normal sequence pretty much down pat though.

Kudos and thanks to SquidNH3, DiscipleN2K, Unoudid, ChrisTheeCrappy, and Kermit! (though Kermit had to leave before we got the final clear). By the end there we were performing like clockwork - getting to the DPS phase and doing enough damage wasn't the problem. SURVIVING the damage phase and what follows was the real issue.

Yeah, all the way. We were like clockwork as well. There was even one point where we did over half his HP in one round but the next round we just got wrecked by the stupid rockets and barely touched him.

Yeah, all the way. We were like clockwork as well. There was even one point where we did over half his HP in one round but the next round we just got wrecked by the stupid rockets and barely touched him.

For reference, this is specifically what people were doing for DPS:

2 Arcstriders (with Raiden Flux): as his shield dropped, they popped supers (with Raiden Flux) and spammed jump/slam. They continued until there was about 20% super remaining, and then ran under cover.

3 Voidwalkers (with Lunafaction): just before his shield dropped (unless they were throwing), they popped healing/empowering rifts on top of the boxes at the back of the room. The boxes left and right of center, just behind Calus-bot, not the ones close to the smoke platforms. They fired Wardcliff coil from the rifts as quickly as possible, then ran away, firing their Nova as they moved to get under cover.

1 Sunbreaker: as his shield dropped, he Hammer Striked the boss (melting point). He then dropped to the boss's feet and fired a auto shotgun at the boss until it was empty, or until he was slammed off the platform. He then popped super while still midair, and tossed hammers at the boss while moving under cover.

With the above roles, we doing at least half his damage every time.

For the final mechanic:

We didn't quite assign specific balls to people due to RNG and situational variance, but we definitely kept to the left and right sides that people started on. Basically "try to get the ball closest to where you started the encounter".

So how did the warlocks avoid the missiles of death?

Yeah, I'm not sure if its just us or our connection, but those missiles were real problems. And yet, none of the guides we found even talked about them. Maybe just a little lag caused them to jump around/teleport? IDK.

It wasn't you, the missiles are what make that encounter deadly (for guardians >370). The mid-range Wardcliff strategy requires getting a near-immediate stun. The timing is so tight, there's not enough time for the Titan to melting point, get back to the rift, turn and fire Wardcliff- by that point the missiles are incoming and the Warlocks are running away. The Titan hits melting point and just drops to use Shotgun until he's empty or is slammed away.

So how did the warlocks avoid the missiles of death?

Essentially, we're trying to keep the boss stunned for the ~5 seconds it takes to fire Wardcliff and start running away. The first rockets and Arc Strider slams should hit the moment his shield drops. One or the other should provide the moment of peace required for everyone to get their damage in before running away.
