When this season's pinnacle weapons were announced, I locked on to one, and one alone: The Mountaintop.
The minute I laid eyes on it, I knew I'd do nothing else in Destiny besides work for it, even though it meant grinding Comp until I reached Fabled... Alone... In the middle of the Telesto, One-eyed Mask, Luna's, and Gwisin meta...

I was signing up for a painful journey, but as the official Grenade Launcher guy of DBO, it was my duty...

Anyway, first I had to grind the Grenade Launcher kills and multikills.
Challenge accepted.

I hit the Bungie number on the way!

I even ran my Launcher-in-every-slot combo on Equinox!

So yeah, the grenade launcher kill/multikill portion took three days, but hitting Fabled by solo-queuing? That was a long and arduous trek. Ottermack tried to help one evening, and we almost made progress, but man, fighting around the cheap meta is tough. I went up against entire One-eyed mask teams with Luna/shotgun combos. Played Survival matches where an infinite Gwisin turned the tide of the entire match, and the Telesto spam. Dear lord the Telesto (and Wardcliff) spam.

But none of that was half as bad as the teammates. You wouldn't believe the teammates I was matched with. At one point, I even used the entire team as bait, since I couldn't depend on them for anything else:

But eventually...

And how does it handle?

I'll say this: THIS is what a pinnacle weapon should be. All other pinnacle weapons have so far rewarded people by making the game flat-out easier for them. It's the rich getting richer without any drawbacks, and it's killed the sandbox.
The Mountaintop? It has a learning curve, since it doesn't work like normal grenade launchers, inconsistent damage given the way explosive rounds work, and if you're not good with them in the first place? It's garbage.

But in the right hands:

It's definitely been worth the journey, and I love the weapon. And as Cruel showed in his recent thread, it can definitely shine outside of Crucible too.

10/10 would recommend the suffering.

And here are some other fun Crucible clips that I don't know what to do with otherwise :P

An absolute mess of a situation:

HUDless crucible is a rush:

And what shoulder charge heaven looks like:

It's apparently pretty good at damaging raid bosses...

Great clips :)

I totally agree with you. This is what pinnacle weapons should be like :)

I also love that since the quest is account-wide, you get multiples of the weapon (1 for each character). They all come with targeting adjuster mods. I kept one like that for PvP, put a Major spec on one, and a Boss spec on the 3rd. I kept that one on my Warlock to I can run Well of Radiance and turn myself into a rapid-fire missile turret against bosses :)
