Why is Ikora Rey talking to me in this Star Trek trailer (Destiny)

If you're wondering why I didn't link the source trailer, it's because CBS has BLOCKED New Zealand IPs from accessing it. Thanks, CBS!

Close your eyes and just listen and it could be a Destiny teaser.

Lee Edwards (@terronk): My only question is why the Picard family vineyard switch from VSP trained vines to the Guyot system between TNG episode “Family” and this series. As LaBarre is in Bourgogne, I’d have expected Guyot the whole time, but why switch? https://twitter.com/rottentomatoes/status/1131604995810291717

Lee Edwards (@terronk): Also, the label on the Chateau Picard states that it’s Gran Cru Classé. Are we expected to believe the AOC granted Gran Cru Classé status to a village in fucking LaBarre? This stretches the limits of fantasy in this science fiction series.

Lee Edwards (@terronk): Look at this shit. “Appellation LaBarre Controlle.” As if Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée would ever allow that. https://twitter.com/terronk/status/1132051847391244288/photo/1

Lee Edwards (@terronk): At this point in the Star Trek timeline, you’re talking about the Gran Cru regions having literally 600 year old vines. Like the Picard family is going to make wine that surpasses vines older than anything existing on earth today. Please.

Lee Edwards (@terronk): Apparently, set pieces from Generations fuck this up even worse:

“Several materials included in the Picard family album imply that Chateau Picard is a Bordeaux wine.”

Again. La Barre is in Bourgogne. It is a Pinot Noir since it bears AOC on the label.

Lee Edwards (@terronk): In fact, La Barre is such a unnoteworthy wine village that its Wikipedia entry has more about Star Trek than wine. Even its parent appellation (Franche-Comté) is only three years old. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Barre,_Haute-Sa%C3%B4ne

This is amazing. It'll be interesting to see what they do about this; before he posted, there were probably fewer than a hundred people on the planet who both knew that the labels were wrong, and had the means to share that info. Now? It's a lot more. :)

(My guess: nothing. It's still a pretty small thing. ;) )

This is insane even by Star Trek nerd standards.
