At the end of this transmission from Callus that The City's Owl Sector intercepted, we read Callus saying to his followers:

Your sacrifice shall spark the Shadows of Earth.

I think this refers to Callus' Shadows. Elite warriors he has collected from different races including the Cabal, the Psions, and even a strange race of energy beings that live in filaments that run between stars. Now, he seems to be setting his sights on Guardians, hoping to recruit / turn some of us into his Shadows...

This is the stuff that I really like in the Destiny universe. I really wish they would lean into this sort of stuff. The Dredge stuff, then the Drifter/Vanguard quest, now this . . .

It will never happen, but I'd love to see a version of Destiny that fully leans into the "pick a side" aspect of either being a Guardian or turning your back on the Vanguard, or something more grey.

Honestly, if Destiny continues after Destiny 3, give me a game set in the past, when Guardians were still just Risen. It feels like all the coolest parts of the Destiny "story" took place hundreds or thousands of years ago, and I desperately want to see that stuff first hand. Or, at least, bring that aspect of the past back into the current Destiny universe. There are hints of it, but I want to really see it.
