I rolled an "Up For Anything" auto rifle with Cascade (melee kills speed up reload) and Glass Half Full (bottom half of mag causes extra damage). Not a terrible gun, but I don't roll with auto rifles. I'll give it a shot and maybe I'll learn to love them though!

Think of it this way: they didn't give you a free gun, they gave you another shot at a good roll. After enough shots at a good roll, you're bound to get a good roll.

A good roll on a legendary gun is the best thing you can receive in this game that isn't an exotic. Sometimes it's better than an exotic.

I need all the rolls I can get. I've gotten 'Against All Odds' 4 separate times.

I've completely given up on getting anything randomly. My entire character is built from grinding and buying. Oooh, the magic of it all.

I've gotten exactly 2 exotics from drops: Plan C and MIDA Multi-Tool, and both of those were in early November. I've gotten 2 more through exotic bounties: Invective and Super Good Advice.

Lately I can't shake the creeping feeling that I'm being taken advantage of in a subtly sophisticated way. You're (somewhat) tongue-in-cheek post about being addicted was spot-on. I don't like how I feel when I'm not playing.

Me too. I've gotten several of the new ARs and Up For Anything is by far my favorite. It feels like a slightly less stable version of the old Shadow Price (but still on the stable end of the spectrum). Mine's got a 56-round mag and grenadier. :)

This gun just feels so..... Squishy. Like my bullets are rubber and so ineffective it doesn't let me enjoy my gun play like scout rifles and hand cannons do. I'll give it another chance but so far it just gets a big "yucky" from me

AR's are all about keeping your weapon on target for long periods of time. It's a different skill than the one required by SRs/HCs which require putting your weapon on a specific target at exactly the right time. ARs are really good in PvE since you can deal with a lot more lower-level enemies quickly than with SRs/HCs.

Up for anything is also about as far as you could get from a HC or SR: high RoF, low(ish) Impact, moderate stability. The Vanquisher seems like the only High Impact, low(ish) RoF, stable AR out there right now; if you can get your hands on one with the right perks, that may be your bridge. I never used them until I started playing more PvP; in PvE I find I have more time to aim with an SR or HC, but in PvP I just miss too often and the AR makes up for that by punishing less for a few missed shots. TTK is still pretty low with a High Impact AR.

Yeah I'm in a similar boat. I like Hand Cannons in PvE, sometimes Scout Rifles. But I almost always roll with an Auto Rifle in Crucible. My Grim Citizen III has perfect balance and reload perks, couple that with a high rate of fire and mediumish impact and you've got a solid little weapon.

Well, no. Saharas, Doctor Nope, Hex Caster ARC, Payback SOS, Atheon's Epilogue, Silimar's Wrath and suchlike are about as far as you can get.

The RoF is at maximum, the Impact is oh so close to minimum, although the stability runs the gamut from very good to awful, depending on the rifle (and on whether they have Perfect Balance or not).

And they're perfect.

I got one in an engram that had third eye. It's my crucible scout rifle. Fires as fast as I can pull the trigger. Lil' Blue got one in a drop too. His has explosive rounds and firefly. I'm jealous.

Yep. I checked briefly and got a LDR 5001 variant. Seemed ok. More ammo and... something... as perks. Will probably keep and give to my third character as he's using a rare sniper right now I think.

Final Round is fantastic for Crucible - 1-hit kill anywhere on the body (I think? Same Impact as Icebreaker, plus 33% damage should =200+ damage).

You need to burn ammo to get there though, so turn off Field Scout in favour of something else. Surplus will help keep you stocked up, which is nice.

Seems like TOT has PvP potential. Very low recoil and Good ROF. But I'm not really a big fan of pulse rifles. They just don't seem like they fit.

I would take focused fire, field scout and glass half full on an Up For Anything over the Vanquisher, just because I think Focused Fire is the best perk an AR can have, and because Vanquisher already fires slower and wouldn't benefit as much as the UFA. You'd basically have a suros regime with that UFA, but with more bullets.

Too bad focused fire doesn't come on legendaries :(

Time on Target was sort of a bummer (I still don't like pulse rifles much), but my Xbox Warlock and Hunter are decently-well geared already, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

The PlayStation was a different story, though. I finally decided a few days ago to properly level and gear my PlayStation Warlock. Her Legendary Surprise was a Devil You Don't hand cannon, which is more in-line with my play style. Combined with the two "useless" Rare gear pieces that were in the mailbox with the DLC, I had some half-decent gear when I finally hit Level 20 last night!
