Considering Destiny was originally a fantasy game, and is now a SCIENCE fantasy game, will there be appropriately tech-y swords and/or bayonets and/or crossbows and/or over-sized plague rats available to the player for the purpose of striking fear into the hearts of sentient races everywhere?

I wonder if Destiny will have a mechanic where you gain a lot of honor for fighting strong foes, but you have to keep fighting stronger, and stronger foes to keep gaining honor. There is no honor in fighting those weaker than yourself. Honor can be exchanged for street cred, which can then be exchanged for sweet beat-boxing skills*.
*No doubt, this is what they mean by emotes.

Are you expecting Pike jousting won't be a thing?
My money is on big ugly bayonets being the closest we get to swords. I believe you can see a bit of that action in the concept art we've seen so far. Non-gun weapons are bit of a slippery slope, I think. First it's swords, then somebody wants a halberd, and so on and so on.
Pretty soon Space Wizards are going to conquer Mars with nothing but glowy wands. Kind of takes the Shooter out of Shared World Shooter.

Okay, maybe not polearms. Maaaaaaybe.
At the very least that wrist-blade thingy from the Republic Commando game would be cool. Seeing as how LucasArts is dead now, I don't think anyone would mind.
Also, I just thought how amazing it would be to come across a sword called "A Fair Point." I could imagine that being very useful in reconciling humanity's differences with those misguided alien-types.

Now I'm thinking of a un-plagafied plague rat called "Squeaky Clean." I would call him Mr. Clean for brevity's and formality's sake.

Wands 'shoot' out magic, so it'd still be a 'shooter'. Wands are also dumb, and this would be a terrible idea.

It's a great stealth weapon that is balanced by its range and rate of fire. Plus there is plenty of opportunity for unique bolts, like BF3 has. Regular, long range, explosive, or bolts with rope for climbing or reaching loot that is otherwise out of reach.
And I also want a poncho so I can make my character look like Daryl Dixon.
I want a crossbow.

I resurrected this thread just to agree that Daryl is, in fact, the shit. Hands down, favorite character on the show by far. I've been watching it with my dad and we're currently in the middle of the 3rd season (thank you Netflix)
