Mashable posted an article with some good comments about weapons in Destiny 2. Random perks are gone! He clarifies a little bit and talks about potential changes as a result. Give it a read.
E3 may be over, but information continues to trickle in from news outlets. Playstation Lifestyle sat down with Luke Smith to discuss Destiny 2. Mostly covers things we already know, but has a few new tidbits and hints you might not have heard about! Go read it!
The folks over at PC Gamer had an in-depth interview with Bungie's own Luke Smith; answering a series of burning questions that covered not only the PC version of Destiny 2, but also shed some light on a number of details that fans across all platforms may have been wondering about. Check it out, and thanks to Ragashingo for the heads up!
There were a few pieces of this interview in the IGN Fireteam Chat linked in the previous post, but the full 30+ minute interview is up now with quite a bit of information about framerates, some features at launch, and design decisions. See it embedded below:
With a big event like the reveal from yesterday a lot of news sites got to try and tease some more information out of Bungie as well. Lots of details were confirmed, and here are some of the more interesting interviews and posts I found:
Playstation Access Interview with DeeJ
IGN Fireteam Chat (has a couple interviews with Mark Noseworthy and Luke Smith)
Gigz Interview with Tocom (Kevin Yanes)
Gaming Age Interview with Lars Bakken
There's a lot more out there too, if you have any news posts we should highlight let us know on the forum!
Bungie has finally revealed Destiny 2 gameplay! They covered a lot of details about new features in the 1 hour long gameplay reveal, but if you don't have an hour go ahead and watch the short gameplay trailer! Both are embedded below:
Another little tease came down today about the direction of Destiny 2, as many popular Destiny Twitch streamers and YouTubers received boxes from Activision PR and were finally allowed to post about the contents this morning at 11am EST.
The boxes contained invitations to the Worldwide Gameplay Premiere of Destiny 2, to be held at the Jet Center in Los Angeles on May 18, 2017. It seems that the reveal will be done "press conference"-style, with "a couple hundred" people being invited reportedly.
The most interesting thing about the package is the card that says, "Welcome to a World Without Light" with an accompanying image of a dead Ghost.

The pattern we've followed to this point with Ragashingo's Bite-Sized Backstory episodes has been to provide a front-page newspost for every three installments. However, with Number 26, Raga has come to the end of Oryx's story, so we're posting just the two most recent:
These are also both available in our BSB Archive, if you'd rather read them there. While he's finished Oryx's story, he's not done with his series; next up is the Fallen! Keep your eyes peeled.
Bungie released the Destiny 2 trailer, "Rally the Troops" this morning. Check it out, then sound off in the forums!
In reality the teaser is really cool, BUT it is teasing a trailer being released on Thursday at 10AM PDT. Check it out! (Thanks breitzen)
Bungie's official Destiny The Game twitter account posted a Destiny 2 teaser image this morning. Not much more to go on, but The Last City looks like it’s in bad shape. Conversation’s already off to a start in the forum, so go join in!
Ragashingo's posted another three installments of his 'Bite-Sized Backstory'; follow along as Oryx punishes one offspring and receives gifts from another, fights with a Vex mind, and discovers a long-sought prize.
We've finally set up a local place to read these; if you're starting from scratch, just visit the Bite-sized Backstory page itself, but if you'd just like to read these latest three, in order, you can do that at this link.
Ragashingo's posted another three installments of his 'Bite-Sized Backstory'; follow along as Oryx dreams, is betrayed by his sisters, has children, and discovers the Vex! Good stuff in here.

It's been a while since we've seen a Bungie presentation from the GDC (David Candland's UI talk back in April of last year was our most recent one), but a new one has been uploaded to the GDC's Youtube page. In their own words:
"Bungie's Barry Genova explains how Bungie turned almost every part of Destiny's engine into a job graph, with only limited use of thread-based pre-emption."
Sounds like valuable insight into Destiny's engine and the testing that goes into it, especially for those who think that making a change to the game is as simple as "changing a few values", or "adding if/then scripts".
Thanks, INSANEdrive, for the heads up!
Edit: Pyromancy highlighted a previous GDC talk that is referenced in the above presentation, where former Bungie employee Natalya Tatarchuk discusses Destiny's Multithreaded Rendering Architecture, which has been reported on before in a different capacity. Lots of neat stuff to read and watch!
This video was released almost 3 weeks ago, but hey - eggnog can make you groggy! Chris Butcher, Engineering Director at Bungie, gave a talk (well, participated in a one-on-one technical discussion, really) at HandmadeCon this past November, focusing on Asset Systems and Scalability. It's not really aimed at casual viewers; it's pretty technical, and might be boring to folks uninterested in programming. However, if this is your cup of tea, it's FASCINATING, and full of honest evaluation of an aspect of Bungie's workflow for Destiny. If you're interested in some of the differences between Halo and Destiny, under the hood, watch this. Thanks to Cody Miller for finding it. (The discussion on our forum might be of interest, as well.)
Well, we hope your end-of-year celebrations were epic. (And we hope they're not the last ones ever, but that's another story.) Ragashingo finished up another three installments of his 'Bite-Sized Backstory' series, and we're here to bring them to you. These focus on the more recent conquests of Oryx - and maybe some tie-ins with previous Bungie games. Go give 'em a read!
If you're starting from scratch, here are some older links: Batch 1 | Batch 2 | Batch 3/4 | Batch 5
Ready for the return of SRL? Bungie's breaking the ice with this trailer for "The Dawning", which showcases all of the neat things coming with the update on December 13. Make some room in your vault for some sweet new loot, including an updated Ice Breaker!
Three more chapters in Ragashingo's Bite-Sized Backstory series have been posted, so it's time to remind you about them again. The battle is joined; Oryx (Auryx/Aurash) and his sisters take on the Ecumene. What does this all mean? Go read 'em!
(The first batch is here, if you haven't started at the beginning yet, and the second batch is here.)
When Ragashingo started posting his 'Bite-sized Backstory' essays, I promised to keep you informed as new ones came out. I've been lax. (To be fair, I was out of state - and mostly off the internet - when 7, 8, and 9 came out... but still.) If you haven't read any of these, you should start at the beginning: Raga's been telling the backstory of Destiny in a way that the average person, who might not have time to go through ALL the Grimoire cards (and figure out their order), can understand. He's also been doing a nice job of keeping track of updates himself, so once you start reading them on our forum, you can easily step through to the end. However, I'm STILL going to link to the last 6 he's posted... because I want all of the pieces linked in our database as well.
Catch up, read 'em all... they're fantastic!
It's not often that fan videos get highlighted on the front page, but it's not often that folks are willing to put the extra work required to make a Destiny machinima, either. The fine folks over at Creators of Valhalla are clearly up to the task, however, and have put together a fine tribute tale of horror about the spookiest of all enemies, Stormcallers... Check it out!
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned Ragashingo's Bite-sized Backstory series, a novel approach to the Destiny Grimoire. There was a promise of periodic reminders, as the series continued. Looks like the period is 3 episodes, because last night he posted Episode 6, and today we're gathering the new ones. Again - this is a way of understanding the backstory of Destiny, as presented in the Grimoire cards, without trying to figure out the proper order, and sometimes without having to interpret. A fantastic reference!
Ragashingo is doing his best to make the backstory of Destiny, as presented in the Grimoire cards, more accessible to the rest of us. A few days ago, he started a series on our forum called 'Bite-sized Backstory' - and it contains easily-digestible chunks of the Destiny universe, with sources (if you want to check up on his facts). Fantastic reading! So far, there are 3 segments:
Give these a read, then check back for updates! (We'll remind you periodically.)
Eager to take a gander at what the new weapon skins will look like in the upcoming Rise of Iron? Bungie has started uploading images to Instagram that show off the new designs. Get ready to dress your weapons up, then take them out somewhere fun!
