The cover story of September's Game Informer magazine is Rise of Iron, and they'll be teasing content all month in preparation. You can see the coverage trailer on their website now (thanks, CybrKN). Lots to talk about, even though it's only snippets now!
Betcha can't stick it... anymore. The June update is live, removing the ability to stick Tripmines to enemies (they've clearly learned to lather themselves with oil). Don't despair too much about this and other nerfs, because Hunters (and the other classes) have also seen a number of PvE buffs to help with the Orb-making. And you'll need those buffs, because a few of your favorite weapons have received some balance tweaks as well.
If you have a spare ream of paper that you're eager to use, Reddit user rustwoodstudios has created over a thousand Grimoire Cards available for printing (along with instructions to help you print them correctly).
To print out all of the cards in this massive project, you will need at least 251 sheets of paper and a disregard for the price of printer ink (I suggest printing them at work, surely nobody will mind). Thanks for the heads-up, Claude!
Yesterday, Bungie hosted another Ride-Along - this time around, DeeJ, Designer Brendan Thorne and Writer Jill Scharr comment on a King's Fall Raid run, as played by 6 other devs. (A sad goodbye to nearly the entire team; their job was to complete the raid without dying, on penalty of job loss for failure... and with the exception of Chase Christian (and Brandon Bjarnason, technically, since his death occurred after Oryx's death), all of them died at least once, with Cozmo_BNG adding a mind-boggling 4 casualties to the total.) If you're not a big Raider, this is a really useful demonstration of techniques and routes... and even if you DO raid a lot, you'll likely see things that make you reconsider your preferred practices, and you'll learn things you didn't know about the lore behind the encounters. It will be available on YouTube eventually, but you can watch the archived stream on Twitch right now. Check this out - a fun watch!
Update: Looks like it's already up!
Did you miss the 2.2.0 Update Prison of Elders reveal? Watch the archived stream over on Twitch, or check out the April Update page over on Bnet for a glimpse of what's coming!
CyberKN also let us know about GameInformer's two-page interview with Lead Designer Ryan Paradis, and the accompanying Media Gallery with over a hundred new images of the revamped Prison!
If you missed the live Twitch stream discussing Destiny's sound design this morning, never fear, Bungie will have an archive up soon. Right now, though, you can watch their newest ViDoc - it's called 'The Sounds of Destiny', and it focuses on how the team built the soundscape that envelops you when you play the game. A fantastic watch!
ObsidianKitteh stopped in with a pretty cool announcement - he's gonna be a dad! And because both he and his wife are Destiny fanatics... well, the announcement is Destiny-themed, right down to the game box. Check out the images, and wish him luck! (My guess is, by June, his gaming time is gonna drop a little.)
CraftingGeek has made our front page in the past a number of times and she's done it again with Traveler-themed Christmas cards!
Additionally, we'd be amiss not to mention the Sparrow Racing League banners she's just translated into real life! How cool!
Polygon has posted a video showing both Sparrow racetracks (a complete race on each track) - fun! Go watch. Thanks, electricpirate.
Bungie snuck up behind us and tapped us on the shoulder today. When we turned around, a lovely new game mode and way to play Destiny was in front of us! Sparrow Racing League will be available for Taken King buyers starting Dec. 8th and will be available for three weeks. Watch the ViDoc (Woo! ViDocs!) below and get excited!
CruelLEGACY continues his series of funny takes on Destiny life but this time he's giving us five cartoons for the price of one!
Go read his forum post to see the rest of them!
CruelLegacy continues his comedy comics!
Apparently there's a new Star Wars movie or something coming out, and CruelLEGACY had some fun combining a squadron of Destiny jumpships and the nostalgia of a classic. Biggs would have been proud!
CruelLEGACEY continues to post Staring at the Sun comics on our forum (and has even adopted Beorn's suggested title!) - two new ones went up this morning. Both made me chuckle.
and Be Brave:Good stuff! He's on a roll! CruelLEGACEY stopped by with another entry for his unnamed comic that I've decided to call Staring at the Sun. Behold:
CruelLEGACEY posted a new Lighthouse comic in the forum:
CruelLEGACEY has started putting together some amusing Lighthouse-themed comics. He hasn't given it a name yet, but I thought the title of the first worked pretty well, "Staring at the Sun."
Here are the first four: Staring at the Sun., Knock Knock, Relaxation, and LFG. Go check 'em out!
I struggle with deciding whether or not to post potential "spoilers" in the news feed, but it's beginning to look like there's a pattern to Daily missions with alternate endings. In the interest of keeping the DBO Community informed, we'll go ahead and start posting them.
Today's mission is Paradox from The Taken King and intrepid explorers found an interesting alternate ending to the mission, one that sends you through the much-analyzed portal at the end of the infamous Vault of Glass "jumping puzzle." (Thanks for the heads-up, TheeChaos!)
If you're interested, see the video below for information on how to trigger the event for yourself:
In a similar style to the Become Legend trailer back at launch, we're gotten another live-action, rocking, ad! Take a gander below or go discuss with CougRon in our forums.
I realized today that this trailer had not been officially released until yesterday, it was shown during the Twitch stream last week! So for those of you that haven't seen it (and that aren't too worried about spoilers), here's the latest story trailer for The Taken King:
This is a fascinating chat with some of the people involved with Destiny's flavor and lore (and a few writers from other games as well) and delves into how they got the job, challenges they faced with the medium, and even hints at some things yet to happen in Destiny's story. Seriously, read it!
Last but not least, another trailer was released today for the Taken King, featuring more glimpses of cinematics, gameplay, and Led Zeppelin.
