Harold Ryan has stepped down as CEO of Bungie today, and Pete Parsons has been appointed as the new CEO. Pete issued a short statement about the change:
I want to personally thank Harold for his friendship, passion, hard work, and dedication in helping make Bungie the great company it is today. As a team, we celebrated many victories and weathered many storms.
To the players of Destiny, I want you to know that my number one priority, and Bungie’s, is and always has been to deliver great games that we can all share together. I believe that Destiny is a one-of-a-kind experience. I also believe you have yet to see our studio’s best work. My new role here at the studio will be entirely focused on fulfilling that promise.
Congratulations to Pete! No word if Harold will be staying with Bungie.
CruelLEGACY let us know about a new montage he's put together showing off Tripmines in recent Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris outings. Watch below or here!
Bungie posted previews of the gear Lord Saladin will be selling this week on their Twitter and FaceBook accounts yesterday.
The weapons on offer are the Finnala's Peril hand cannon and the Bretomart's Stand heavy machine gun.
The armor offerings will be the arms and chest pieces for each class.
Bungie said we can expect Iron Banner to open up in connection with Update 2.0.2, which should go live at approximately 10:00 am PST - so keep an eye out for those patch notes this morning as well!
Destiny is showing up in the weirdest of places these days, as Luke Timmins of Bungie pointed out on Twitter.
As always, a local copy is available to read here as well.
And Bungie's got them for you over at B.Net. General fixes, fewer notifications, Grimoire stat corrections, and the Gear Manager unleashed!
BeardFade knows what he's doing in CSS (that's something to do with the Internet - not a class of Covenant battleship!) and he's decided to put those skills to use in some neat web animations featuring each logo of the Destiny classes. Go check them out in his forum post!
Black Six let us know about an article on The Brothers Brick featuring Nick Jenson's custom Arc Edge that he built out of LEGO pieces. Not sure if that thing would fall apart if you hit something or someone... or just hurt like heck!
Oryx (er... C.G. Barrett, Bungie's Creative Director and maker of pretty things) brought attention to Ryan DeMita, another artist at Bungie, and his blog which has a new post on The Taken King. Go take a gander at some concepts, art for the special editions, and some of the frames done for the new animatics featured in the game.
Deej bought in Senior Designer Derek Carroll to illuminate the changes to power differences in the new Iron Banner (which launches today). There's a fancy new chart showing the changes between all the Iron Banner updates since launch - the newest version sounding even more rigorous than ever!
Eep, almost forgot - Korny stopped in this morning with another of his Exotic concepts. This one's called 'Necromancer's Light', and it's a pair of Warlock Gauntlets that turns a Stormcaller into a serious medic. Pretty cool - check it out and let him know what you think!
I struggle with deciding whether or not to post potential "spoilers" in the news feed, but it's beginning to look like there's a pattern to Daily missions with alternate endings. In the interest of keeping the DBO Community informed, we'll go ahead and start posting them.
Today's mission is Paradox from The Taken King and intrepid explorers found an interesting alternate ending to the mission, one that sends you through the much-analyzed portal at the end of the infamous Vault of Glass "jumping puzzle." (Thanks for the heads-up, TheeChaos!)
If you're interested, see the video below for information on how to trigger the event for yourself:
Tess Everis is making a return to The Tower next week, this time as CEO of the brand-new Eververse Trading Company. Her new wares begin with 18 new emotes for your Guardian, but she won't be taking your Glimmer; instead she'll accept Silver, a new in-game currency that is purchased (with real money) through your platform's online store.
The move to "micro-transactions" is certainly controversial, but Bungie plans to use this extra income stream to directly fund the Destiny Live Team, who will apparently be updating the live game with increased frequency in Year Two.
- Hedgem0ny of Samurai Fronk fame released the first issue of an impressive new Destiny comic entitled "Novum". A Titan and his Ghost walk into the Darkness of the Moon...
-INSANEdrive wrote an all-encompassing, short novella regarding his thoughts of the first year of Destiny on our forum.
-Leviathan drew a Pretra
If you're reading and finding yourself with some of your own fanart, whether it be visual, musical, and beyond, feel free drop us a line or post in the forum. We'd love to see more!
In a similar style to the Become Legend trailer back at launch, we're gotten another live-action, rocking, ad! Take a gander below or go discuss with CougRon in our forums.
Last but not least, another trailer was released today for the Taken King, featuring more glimpses of cinematics, gameplay, and Led Zeppelin.
These two videos have also been quietly sitting in our news queue, but they definitely deserve to see the light of day! If you're in Destiny withdrawal, have at them:
Want to win a copy of The Taken King Collector's Edition? Here's how: Kermit is relaunching the Deeply Flawed Raiders t-shirt design contest and is looking for design entries! Entries are due August 10th (that's Monday, folks).
Kidtsunami was first in our forum with the Game Informer article revealing that Year One Legendary weapons will not be able to ascend to Year Two standards. Start saying your goodbyes - but also start preparing for some "genuinely novel shooting experiences".
DeeJ enjoyed the Community's reaction (and creations) after the Foundries were shared last week, so he decided to share a LOT more art with us. Nineteen of Bungie's incredibly talented artists' online portfolios were posted to show the awesome work they've done (and are doing) for Destiny's design. Go take a look!
Although my wallet's been dreading it, my heart's been waiting impatiently for it! Hedge retweeted an announcement by 3A concerning a highly-articulated (and steeply-priced) Titan action figure. It looks beautiful - I can't wait to see more high quality licensed stuff like this for Destiny. More photos and info here.
We mentioned this beautifully-rendered digital comic a while back. Here's an update of the pages Jake has published since. Click the image to go to the full page. Great stuff!
