Speaking of pentathlons, Bungie had their annual event last week. If you're not familiar with it, it's a long-running tradition of forming the studio into teams based on seniority and letting have at each other in a number of different games (by Bungie and by others). This Bungie.Net article will introduce you to the teams and the games, and you can look back on Bungie's Twitter to see who won what!
We've got TWO episodes of Rampancy's Let's Play series in the queue -both dealing with the final battles of Destiny's first raid. Enjoy!
In Episode #29, Narcogen and crew reach the inner chamber of the Vault of Glass and are attacked from all sides:
In Episode #30, Atheon strands the Fireteam in the past and future as it attempts to integrate the Vex into the fundament of our spacetime.
Is a Gold Box like a Gold Chest? If it is, this is way better than a Jade Rabbit insignia. We heard over the grapevine that Destiny on PS4 and Xbox One is half off at Amazon today! This may be US only.
Go see Bungie.Net's post for the details, then jump onto Destiny and start destroying your poor innocent opponents. Or be destroyed by them, like me!. You can earn level 31 gear now.
CruelLEGACY let us know that the latest podcast of Ready Up Live spends a lot of time talking Destiny. "We cover the new expansion, the nature of Raids in the game, and Bungie's approach to storytelling." Go listen!
If we're inept in our duties at the moment, it's quite possibly due to the whole 'being sucked into The Dark Below' thing. If you're unable to take the fight to Crota's various bodyparts at the moment, there's always discussion on the forum (which is a fine place to link up with folks for a Raid if you're in need!) and Twitch streams to watch. I'll see you soon with more news! Now which direction is the Hellmouth again...
A lot of this footage has already been glimpsed if you've been keeping up with the latest trailers, but there's still some new stuff in Bungie's newest preview - not to mention plenty of bwwaaaaaaw sounds!
Bungie's Dev Team just released a list of some of the upcoming changes happening to Destiny's gameplay and loot/upgrade systems - some of which happened in last patch, some of which will be happening when the Dark Below hits next week. Go read - our forum is standing by to receive any freakouts! :)
If you didn't see the trailer/vidoc from Game Informer yesterday, you can catch it from us now, too, in our Video Library. Then go and join in on the thread analyzing all the little details shown off!
GameInformer just unleashed a pretty tasty glimpse at The Dark Below in a video with Jason Jones, Lars Bakken, M. E. Chung, Ryan Ellis, Luke Smith... okay, half of Bungie apparently. There's a lot crammed into those four minutes! Go watch the video here.
I missed this originally, but Bungie posted the cinematic trailer for Destiny's first expansion: The Dark Below (it had been discovered in the 1.0.3 patch update, but now Bungie has officially published it). Narrated by the new Tower character, Eris, the prologue sets the stage for December 9th. Can't wait!
A few Destiny-related pieces by DarkMechanic, from his DeviantArt gallery. Beautiful.

Louis Wu's real-life avatar let drop on the forum that Activision and Bungie are releasing Destiny as a trial/demo install on all consoles. The cool thing is that you get to keep your characters if you end up buying it - pretty neat! Read the Activision Blog for all the details and check out Bunge's FAQ on the matter.
Bungie is back with a revised Iron Banner. You can read the gist at Bungie.Net, which will guide you through what numbers count in Saladin's playdate and what rewards are possible. Beorn pointed out on our forum that the Tempered buff activates immediately when you purchase it - it isn't an item you choose to activate.
Bungie's also streaming their gameplay starting at 11:00 AM Pacific, so go watch that if you can't partake just yet.
After The Last Word was Xurred last weekend, iconicbanana showed us a fan-made prop he found through Reddit, created by Sloan. There's some shots of a few custom Ghosts in the maker's blog post, too!
If you take a gander at the art book's Amazon page, you'll notice that its release date has been delayed until Feb 10th, 2015. Shucks! Off the Christmas list and onto the birthday list...
Oh, right - DBO. Oops! Anyways, Quirel dropped by the forums a few days ago to point out all the new images at Isaac Hannaford's blog. Mostly more weapon variations, but interesting nonetheless.
And then there's this image... FotC droids scouting Mars? Cut content or an idea still in the barrel? Hmm....
Black Six is keeping us in the loop with Isaac Hannaford's blog, which was updated with a new look at the FOTC Hawk Dropship (which apparently had an interior created for it - now when do we get to see that?).
Black Six let us know that Isaac Hannaford updated his blog with a couple of Destiny gun concept compilations, mostly silhouette work but interesting nonetheless!
Ack! Looks like we've been lax on news delivery recently... sorry about that. Here, have a 3D printable Thunderlord posted by D3DP on reddit last week!
Jesse van Dijk, one of the main concept artists behind Destiny, has updated his portfolio with new Destiny pieces. There's some fantastic stuff in there, including some imagery I don't quite recognize, like the Vex Citadel exploding, that may hint at some things to come. But despite all the top-notch skills on display, this fun little piece below is my favorite!
How am I supposed to make a map cooler than that?
Dan de Board let us know that the presentation a few Bungie employees gave at this year's Vancouver Siggraph conference can now be experienced through a handful of slides at RealTimeRendering.com. At a quick glance, it looks like there's a lot of interesting stuff in there, including a glimpse at the testworld spaces used to prototype incoming content. Be sure to click on the images or "preview" in the PowerPoint to see the actual animations!
Community member Tex is raising money for Extra Life as she streams gameplay including that of Destiny, Halo, and maybe more. She's even giving away an Elgato HD game recorder, and all you have to do is donate. Read here for the details, and go give some high charity!
More art direction talks thanks to Shutterstock! Christopher Barrett is the target of the interview this time and there's some fun insights in there, if it is a bit general. Chris's quote, "I think the more details you can put in the game that open up those questions and get people thinking about a world, without needing words, is great," really touches on one of the main aspects of Bungie that's kept me such a fan all this time.
