Yeah, I played a bit of Trials this weekend with a Stormcaller and I honestly felt dirty when I killed chaps with charged melee beyond their shotgun range. :p
The slide shotgun followed by stormcaller melee is hella OP. Because you only need half of the pellets to hit with the shotgun.
