It says it right in the reddit link Korny provided: Cluster bombs

Reason: Essentially Aksis is made up of multiple parts so each rocket and cluster bomb explosion is hitting multiple parts.

Well yeah, but lots of rocket launchers have cluster bombs. Being able to store 8 rockets in reserve is a much rarer quality.

And firing speed matters too. People have asked about Hezen's Vengeance, since the mini-MIRV does more damage, but the fire rate (4) is way lower than Warpath's (18), leading to a lower damage output. If you're running Transversive Steps, that's a whole lot of rocket firing...
