What would a competitive race mode be like? (Destiny)

If you were Bungie and were secretly working on a race mode, what would you go for?

1. Serious race. No guns, no enemies. Collision physics only time trials.
2. Mario Kart race. Enemies blunder about. Players can run them over to access gear to shoot at other players. Ride specific supers charge as the race goes on and with "style" moves.
3. Pod race. No guns, but enemies are present to take potshots and get in the way.
3. Rocket Race: Players ride a new 2 person vehicle with a driver and gunner.
4. Iron Banner Race: Sparrows Matter! Upgrade your sparrow to make it uniquely yours*.

*"Uniquely yours" means that everyone will have a set of gear identical to yours with perhaps one or two substitutions, and will equip the same class item and shader so they all look the same.
