My first programming job was in a guys basement, we had beige PowerMacs, I don't recall exactly what they were (maybe a 9500?), but it was before the blue & white G3 towers. Anyway, we had one computer that would literally compile faster if you put in a CD, played it and then paused playback. My suspicion is it had to do w/ disk-io and putting the BUS in a different mode, but I'm not entirely sure. However, I'm pretty dang sure it didn't have to do w/ processor cycling.

Slycrel, were you working there then? It was Dirk's workstation.
