1 Orb strat still works for Golgoroth challenge mode (Destiny)

Challenge: Every round everybody has to have had his gaze at one point.
Idea: Start with everybody split on two sides. Have the 5 people quickly swap gazes, drop the ball then get into the pit. 6th guy takes Gaze and you do the round. Repeat.
Better than Warpriest…

Yeah, seems simple enough

1 Orb strat still works for Golgoroth challenge mode

Seems like the best idea is to ball swap after you shoot. This minimizes the adds down there, which often kill people.
Drop orb, damage, one guy jumps out early, swap the gaze.
Of course, doing the ball swap before you go down allows for more people to get in the hole safely.

Except…

Uh, except that you don’t get more adds when you swap his gaze… right?
It appears to be time based. If people get down there ASAP, adds are almost no issue at all. After that, more show up. Now, if you have a bunch of dudes who're coordinated and can successfully grab the gaze in order while also shooting adds who spawn in the hole, then that's something else.
It just seems ever so slightly easier to do it second. The fact is, I'm sure it's easy as butts no matter by what method it's done.

Simple, everyone who has had the gaze is on add control until everyone is ready to jump down.

i thought the more you swapped, the more adds you got in the pit? therefore, it would be best to do your damage to Golg on the first gazer. assign someone to leave the pool of light early to get into position to swap the gaze. Then just swap the gaze back and forth until everyone has done it, wait for the orbs to respawn, then go again.

Well then, I stand corrected!

Important tip!

Make sure to get the Golgoroth checkpoint on an alt or two before attempting, because if you fail it's a long way back w/o a checkpoint on an alt to pass around. Will be extra important for Oryx.

We did this earlier today and it worked out pretty well. I’ll just bullet-list the steps. P# is "Player Number #,” with the # being the order that you pull Golgoroth’s Gaze. Even numbers pull from the front/left and odd numbers pull from the back/right. Pick a number and stick with it, but your two best “Gazebearers” should be P2 and P6.
- Start the sequence and clear the adds
- P1 pulls Gaze from back/right to make Golgy face away from the group
- Group brings down first orb (L1) and P2 pulls Gaze from front/left
- Group does DPS on Golgy*
- With 6-7 seconds remaining, P3 jumps out of pool and moves to right platform
- P3 pulls Gaze, everyone out of the pool!
- P4 pulls Gaze immediately, Group reloads, picks up ammo, clears adds
- P5 pulls Gaze immediately
- P6 pulls Gaze immediately and Group brings down second orb (L2)
- Group does DPS on Golgy*
- Everyone out of the pool!
- Repeat
*Once the Taken show up, one DPSer player should stay out and do add control instead.
It looks like a lot, but it’s really quite simple. Once you get the sequence down, it’s pretty smooth.

My friends and I did it similarly last night. Instead of a designated P3 to grab the gaze at the end of the damage phase, it was whoever received the unstable light from the pool. The only complication was if P1 got the unstable light. This only happened once, but as soon as he got the light we just sent someone else out early to grab the gaze. We didn't assign a specific order after P1 and P2 - we just split the team into left and right sides and swapped the gaze as quickly as possible after the person with unstable light had the gaze.
We didn't do second round of dps for the 6th orb; we didn't want to risk anyone dying. There was time to drop Golgoroth in damage 4 cycles of the one-orb strategy with gaze switching; we did not see an enrage warning.
We used Melting Point and Tether to boost out damage output, and put someone on ad control at the taken wave for safety. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed, but we were operating under the impression that a death on any damage cycle other than the last one would fail the challenge.
- Start the sequence and clear the adds
- P1 pulls Gaze from back/right to make Golgy face away from the group
- Group brings down first orb (L1) and gets in position
- P2 pulls Gaze from front/left
- Titan uses melting point on Golgy as he's turning around and joins DPS team in pool
- Other DPS team members drop AoE grenades behind them as he's turning
- Group does DPS on Golgy*
- Hunter uses Tether on ground in front of Golgy after melting point runs out
- One DPS team member gets unstable light and leaves pool immediately to the right
- Unstable light person grabs gaze from back/right
- Everyone out of the pool! (hunter throw an invisibility bomb please)
- Remaining 3 players swap gaze left/right/left quickly, everyone else clears thrall from pool
- Repeat
*Once the Taken show up, one DPSer player focuses on add control instead.

Ah yeah

Our group consisted of 5 Warlocks and a Hunter, so no Melting Point. We just made sure to drop a bunch of orbs at the beginning of each round so that our Hunter was always charged-up with a tether.

Overcompensating much?
Oh Yeah, compensating for the lack of Titan. That's common.
Success was found by the other DBO group thusly. The order was preplanned.
Guy 1 gets gaze.
Damage.
Designated guy 2 jumps out at 7 seconds, gets gaze.
Guy 3 gets it, and so on.
