Use Timebreaker, no shortcuts, hit every gate and overboost continuously.

You gotta know when to let off the trigger... and listen for the whistle - sounds a bit like a turbocharger bypass.

Something's being done in tight turns here, but I don't know what. Is it breaking or just letting off boost?

Good side boost timing

I will NEVER be able to drive that cleanly. EVER.

if you side boost while entering a turn, it will execute a nearly 90 degree turn and conserve your momentum in the new direction.

Where'd he get the secret side boosting?

Multiple times he side boosts into a gate when his fuel is red.

Also, his base speed was 128 km/h, my base speed is 130 km/h it seems. I was a bit confused by that.

Lastly, some of those turns just didn't seem possible. I can't really understand how he was making the final left hand turn in the tunnel after the spinners that tightly with that speed. He hugged the left side and made that turn tightly (I'd guess a 70 degree turn with no sliding somehow). I've been playing that line out to the right and cutting to the inside (tough cause the turn is kind of blind in third person. I wish sometimes you could sparrow in first person like the Gran Turismo games), moving outwards to that gate. I don't think I could even make that turn the way he was.

If this was you, congrats (and sorry for talking about you in the third person).

To take that hairpin curve like that is doable with 2 side boosts to the left at just the right time, pointing your sparrow in just the right direction. I've done it a few times, but he makes it look simple. It's not, and on a non-SRL sparrow I am sure it's much much harder.

Actually I find the SRL sparrows easier to corner. He was on a timebreaker, the VOG sparrow.

I've actually side boosted when I shouldn't have been able to many times. Some kind of glitch.

That video is of a 3:52 run but his record is 3:49.5 which is stupid fast.
I went looking for his videos when I saw him at the top of the SLR list.

Multiple times he side boosts into a gate when his fuel is red.

Each time you enter a gate you gain a little bit of fuel. So although it may look like I don't have any boosts, when I enter the gate I recieve just enough fuel to use one last boost to shoot through it.

Also, his base speed was 128 km/h, my base speed is 130 km/h it seems. I was a bit confused by that.

The raid sparrows have a base speed lower than the trick sparrows, however if you use the overdrive enough it ends up being much faster

For that turn I usually begin turning with the left stick and about halfway through I use a sideboost to shoot myself through the next gate. If you use your right stick and position your screen in the direction you want to go, you can use a side boost and it will almost always put you in the direction you were looking
