I had two pretty interesting games this week, and given the spat of fun gameplay videos I'd thought I'd share my latest with the crew. The first one is an all around solid game on Vertigo. Despite doing really well, I can tell that I'm playing too timidly and continuously round corners, have a guy dead in my sights, and don't react quickly enough with my shots.

Anyway, if anyone wants to know how to do Gunslinger with the Chaperone, this is a pretty good example.

I'm running Nirwen's Mercy / The Chaperone / Quillim's Terminus and Young Ahamkara Spine. Spec'd for 6 armor.

Also, I'm playing these games totally solo and I don't join team chat. It's HARD to succeed without communication in this game, so you'll see that I spend a good deal of time just watching my radar rather than pushing aggressively into the enemy.

If anyone has any advice or questions, please let me know. I'm a pretty decent player, but really wish I could move up into that elite tier.

----

This second video's highlights don't really start until there are only five minutes and thirty seconds left in the game, but I'm leaving the full game here so you can see the difference between being off your game and being on it. From the 5:30 time remaining point onward, this is one of the best runs I've ever had in Destiny (though no Relentless medals this time around). Lots of good Chaperone action and I'm really proud of how I bait some 1v2 and 1v3 situations into becoming several 1v1s in a row instead. Plus the tripmine kill at 5:30 remaining is one of the luckiest and best kills I've ever had in destiny. Enjoy!

Again, I'd love any tips from you PvP beasts (beyond the obligatory "don't suck for the first 7 minutes"), and if anyone has questions I'm happy to answer them.

Cheers gang!

EDIT: Accidentally linked youtube videos from my personal account. Re-uploading from a less public account because the internet.

Iron Banner Full Games with The Chaperone

Some things I noticed:

1. You have two knives and two trip mines, but really don't take advantage of either. There were several situations where you could have laid a trip mine to cover one path into an area and watched another. With the Spine, the 30 second duration on those grenades really makes them a worthwhile trap, even if they are not tripped 100% of the time. Same with the knives, you can easily lead or follow with the knives to finish, they have better range the chaperone, but I don't think I saw you throw one in the whole first match.

2. Man, your NM is a laser. That's pretty good. You tend to hard scope it too often though.

A suggestion, would it be better to go with a Nightstalker, and use the shadestep, and cloak grenades? That would let you get close without appearing on radar as well as giving a good method to escape mid engagement by shade stepping. Void Grenade+Poison smoke really shuts down a capture point or choke point too. Other option would be to go blade dancer for the fast weapon change and blink. Tap with the chaperone then melee to regen health.

I've had some fun with my Defender Titan and Chaperone + No Backup Plans. Regenerating Overshield on a shotgun kill is very handy, you can go full armor/speed builds that way and not feel left out.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I almost never use the knives. Because my current gear doesn't have increased melee attack speed, it's faster to double-tap the chappy than to shoot once and throw a knife. Several of the deaths you see in the videos are while I'm in the middle of trying to throw a knife. Just not effective for me without that perk.

Grenade-wise, I feel like I use them constantly, but I guess I left some on the table? I always feel like I don't have them when I want them.

It's the vendor version with Third Eye, so I hardscope all day, but I'm actually watching my radar most of that time. In fact, I'm soloing these runs so most of the time it looks like I'm doing nothing, I'm watching the radar and trying to figure out what the enemy is doing and where I should be covering since I don't have any communication with teammates.

Probably yes to the nightstalker. I run that quite a bit as well, but I've been having so much success with golden gun and trip mines of late that nightstalker feels pretty gimped to me in comparison. I used to run quiver, but it would hit enemies without killing them (bullseye on a palpatine and he just shrugged it off and blasted me to death, plus he was moving so quickly it didn't even drop him out of super before he was out of range of it) which is another reason why I went back to GG.

Yeah, the warlock and titan builds for shotguns really make me consider leveling my alts... Hmmmm...
