Got an Elite Controller for Christmas (Destiny)
First off, I never realized that I held my controllers with such death grip until i got the Elite controller. Took me a while to get used to holding it with a lighter grip.
Also, took me a couple of days to get used to it, but now i think it has made me a better player. My average K/D has been about .9 forever. my first few games of iron banner this week were pitiful, as i was forcing myself to think about the paddles (k/d was .5 or worse).
But once i rewired my thinking, i started to consistently get over 1 k/d, even had a few games of 2+ k/d and one 4 k/d game. Will have to see if this has a long-term effect, or if i was just running with the right group of DBO-ers. :)
I would have never have gotten this controller if it hadn't been gifted to me, and now i don't see how i could ever play again without it.
on the top left paddle i have crouch/slide, and the bottom left is sprint. Top right is reload/revive, and bottom right is jump. I've seen where a lot of people map Y to a paddle, but i don't find myself swapping weapons that much, and prefer having all my movement and reload/revive functions on the paddles.
It also took me until last night to realize that i only had to tap the sprint button, i didn't need to hold it down. In the past, i always held down on the left stick with i sprinted, not sure now if that was really necessary or not.

I would love to be able to rent one for a week just to see if it would be worth the money :-)
The problem I have is that I get REALLY tense when I play. I always have and thus I hold my controller with a death grip. People always tell me to relax (guitar hero was the worst) but I don't know if it's possible.
And I get the feeling like this controller doesn't exactly cater to the tense players.

awesome!

My game has been upped since I purchased one at launch. I played without it recently at my parent's place and it was laughable how difficult basic things like aiming while jumping was.
My favorite thing is how great sliding feels in both Destiny and Halo now...

Mine arrives Wednesday. Can't wait!

Got an Elite Controller for Christmas
I love mine. My wife is jealous so we bought her one as well. :)
I set mine as follows for regular play:
Lower Left - Sprint
Upper Left - Switch Weapons (I always forget to use this one)
Upper Right - Crouch
Lower Right - Jump
During SRL, I removed the Upper Left and Upper Right paddles and just set my second profile to make the lower left and lower right paddles perform a side boost. Sometimes I left the Upper Right paddle in and set it to the horn.
I still haven't decided if the trigger locks are worth using or not. I turned it on last night for the right trigger but I'm used to the full travel so I keep trying to push it all the way down even after it stops.

I've been using the hair triggers, although in patrol, i turn it off on the left trigger. The sparrow only goes about 5 mph with hair triggers :/
I also set my look sensitivity to 3 in destiny (i used to have it at 7) and set my sticks to "Aggressive" in the Xbox Accessories app.

Fix for trigger on "analog" things like sparrow/ghost boosts
So, basically the hair trigger is only stopping you from pulling the trigger all the way in, it makes no change to how that input is interpreted by the XB1.
The way to fix it is by using the controller configuration app to set the range of the trigger to 50% making it so it interprets the half pull as a full pull.
Here's someone taking a full minute to get to the point.

You've never had to hold down the left stick for sprint. Press it in once to activate.

It's worth the money.
I still hold my controller with a death grip. I've dealt with this by using two paddles instead of four. I have jump and run mapped to mine and it works great. I was having too many issues accidentally crouching or reloading when I had 4 mapped.
huh...
Add this to the list of things you've taught me about Destiny in the past week...

huh...
make sure you're moving when you tap it in. It will cancel when you stop moving forward on the left stick. I also tend to reclick this in just before landing on a jump to ensure I'm still sprinting.
So, Beardfade...
Care for some casual Trials tonight?

So, Beardfade...
North and I started one character, we need to wrap that up. And I'd be happy to start running another character through it if we had time. My titan has no trials gear yet.

Cool. I'll check in with you later if it works out. Won't be until 8:00PST.

I figured out why you hold your controllers too tight.

K/D Stats from destinydb

here are the control stats for my main character. I don't play much crucible, so that's pretty much the stats for every Iron Banner (save November, which was slayer) for the past year.
