Extra Credits beats the Destiny story dead horse. (Destiny)

Destiny part starts at about 2:18ish.
Can't say I really disagree with what he's saying; Destiny does have a lot of throwaway "flavor" lines.
Not really anything new to discuss, though, but I figured maybe someone would find it interesting.

I always liked the flavor text for patrol missions — the strings that pop up if you go into nav mode after picking up a beacon. We crammed some good puns and worldbuilding spice into a really tiny space.
All the patrol mission strings were in a spreadsheet, and as we went down the spreadsheet we started running out of time before string lock (the point at which we couldn't alter in-game text any more), so the Cosmodrome patrol strings probably got more love than anything else.

I always wonder why the iconic E3 encounter in the cosmodrome (against Karrhis) has the same title as the moon VIP encounter where you kill an Ogre...
Not only did they dumb it down to a simple VIP kill in Patrol, but they tacked on the wrong title...

That encounter probably got added after string lock, and the designers had to reuse existing string content? Or the writers didn't have any bandwidth available to generate a new string?
Just guessing — it was all so hectic I can't remember!

You guys did really well there. I still mess up some names in Destiny, but I learned a huge number of patrol missions by heart. Southside holding, high and dry, etc. They're one of the places Destiny is quirky, and it really endears it to the player.
It turns into a meta game for me and my friends sometimes. We go into patrol and try to guess the mission. Like, if we see a VIP in mothyards:
"Come onnnnnnn four arms good two arms better!"
"Nope! Gonna be shanks for the memories!"
*Shanks for the memories*
"WOO!"
