Should be 320. eff Bungie's crappy engram system (Destiny)

by unoudid @, Somewhere over the rainbow, Thursday, February 04, 2016, 04:24 (3456 days ago)

Fix your shit Bungie.

Let me start off by saying I'm sitting at 319 with only needing a 320 special weapon to make it to 320.

I've been looking forward to tonight for about 6 weeks now. I've been down to needing a 320 special weapon to hit 320 on my hunter. 3 weeks ago I ran the warpriest challenge and had only 320 heavies drop. That's great and all, but does me no good for hitting 320.

fast forward to tonight. I ran the warpriest challenge with Doooodbruh, Nico, Disciple, Chappy and Zero. It took us longer than it should have, but we managed to complete the challenge on all three characters. During the first two runs I saw I had a total of 4 raid snipers drop on my first two characters, two regular and two harrowed. on my third character I had a 310 raid sniper and a 320 machine gun drop.

I didn't think anything of it, but after completing the challenges we went to golgoroth and got the checkpoint and I switched characters by using the switch character function instead of going to orbit to save time.

Apparently that completely screwed me over. all of my slots were full from engrams so I just figured I'd turn those in and pick stuff up from the postmaster later. fast forward to just a few minutes ago when I got home and signed on to do some much needed infusing. When I got to the postmaster there was nothing there. not an engram, not the 310 and 320 sniper that should have been there, no 310 and 320 artifacts..... simply nothing.

Not only did nothing show up, I can't go back and redo the challenge this week since my advisor says the activity is complete. I'm basically screwed for another three weeks or more depending on this BS RNG system we have to deal with.

Apparently this is a known issue?

If Bungie really wants to know if people are having fun with their game, they should really worry about fixing crap like this.

Wow, I'm not sure how I played Destiny this long without knowing this. From the article, it would seem that things don't get sent to the Postmaster until you return to orbit. Not just leave the activity, but SPECIFICALLY enter orbit. I wonder what sort of things I've lost due to this? I certainly go to orbit MOST of the time after doing something, but I guarantee there have been some instances where I've done "switch character" or "change profile" from within an activity, and surely at least SOME of those times I might have had engrams on the ground.

Also, we've all heard people claim to have lost engrams, right? Even if it hasn't happened to us personally. How many of those were because of this, I wonder?

I feel like there should be a small bit of text on the confirmation dialogue for those actions, explaining that any engrams still on the ground won't be saved until you go to orbit. It's not already there, is it?

What Does 320 Get You?

Does it bump you up to even with the Oryx hard mode enemies so you aren't under leveled like we always were for Skolas? Does it give you a meaningful advantage in Trials of Osiris? Do you get an achievement or special gear?

I think it gives you a heart warming feeling of success.

320 gives you about a 3-4% damage increase over someone who is 310 in trials.

Being 320 does help a little bit for Oryx, but it's not a big difference. A 320 light level guardian using a 1000 Yard Stare sniper still can't one-shot-kill a Light Eater Knight (Black Spindle can).

Mostly I think hitting 320 just gives the satisfaction of reaching max light level. Once you hit 320, any additional 320 drops can be used to refine your armor and weapon load out to match your preferences.

(emphasis mine)

That's the frame of mind I switched to once I hit 310. After playing Taken King for a while, I realized the loot system would drive me insane if I tried to work towards hitting 320. So I decided to instead focus on leveling up the gear that is most useful to me. All that infusing means I've sacrificed a few light levels along the way, but the tradeoff is that I now have a fairly wide range of gear on all 3 characters that I can equip while keeping my guardians in the 310-315 range. Ultimately, I find that more useful than getting 1 single build up to 320. I routinely play Trials and Iron Banner while floating around the 305-310 range, and it doesn't seem to hurt me one bit.

All that being said, I made sure to infuse my Sleeper Simulant and Eirene RR4 Sniper up to 320 so I can do Oryx Hard Mode and kick some serious butt :)

After playing a game for over 1500 hours it'd be nice to finally be at max level. It's nothing really meaningful per se. but there are very few things left to do on my main character. This includes hitting 320 and getting two faction exotic class items. That's really about it. The rest of the things I have to do can be done on any character class.

As far as 320 being meaningful, my IB/Trials load out sits at 319 and with a 320 secondary I could actually run at 320. As Cody point out, at 320 I'll have a 3%-4% level advantage over others that are at 310. While the level advantage doesn't make up for bad game play, I'll take every little bit I can get.

I realize that this is just a dumb game that's a fun way to waste some time and play with friends. It's just frustrating at times.

Dang. I just powered off my Xbox without heading to orbit. I wonder how much crap I lost. On the plus side, I guess I don't have to worry about grabbing those artifacts just to scrap them now.

Back in the Crota and Atheon raids and Strike bosses we received drops from bosses straight to our inventory. If your inventory was full, the items went straight to your postmaster. With the TTK they updated the drops to make the engrams rain from the rears of the enemies you beat. So instead of items going to your postmaster they now sit in the form of an engram on the floor while you continue on.

In the past missing drops never would happen. Now, there is an opportunity to miss out on stuff. It kind of sucks. Chalk this up to a lesson learned. ALWAYS GO BACK TO ORBIT.

Not sure if you are joking or not :)

But not sure why the engrams didn't go to the post master after we cleared the teleporter at the warpriest? or atleast after we wiped. there's no way for you to go back and get them.

have you tried returning to the raid and going to orbit to try and push missing loot to the postmaster?

(assuming you still have the save point on each toon)
