Crimson Doubles update: 320 Ghosts for all! (Destiny)
https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=44361
TL;DR
Play 7 matches of Crimson Doubles this week and a 320 Ghost will be delivered to your postmaster next week. Oh, and you actually need to play the games... suicide-matches won't count.
Yay!
Hooray!

Really hoping they take this as a sign. Guaranteed loot for actively participating in an event is totally the way to go.
Nice!

Oddly Enough…
Apparently I have unnatural luck with Crimson Doubles Ghost shells… I’ve played a total of 18 matches (two of which were non-games where the other team just quit or suicided) and I’ve won four shells (two of each color). Still no shaders, tho. ;-)

Didn't the survey on Reddit determine that the Crimson Doubles drop rate on Ghosts was somewhere around 3%?
Wow.

I've had really good luck with shaders, I guess. I got one shader after my 2nd game and the other after my 3rd. After 15 games, though, I've never even seen a ghost shell drop.

I have no idea, but both Xenos and jchapman were saying saying it was a pretty low rate. Reddit isn’t exactly hard science, though…
Holy shit. Thank you so much Bungie!
When Crimson Doubles was announced, I was pretty excited to get my game on. I usually never play Destiny for light, loot, or level. I don't subscribe to grinding. I want fun, and if not pure fun, I want to compete to win. But this event, with that awesome choco Ghost, was different. Go in with one other person, get a mini-Trials vibe in, and maybe get that choco Ghost above 310 light? Hell yes! That Ghost was my main motivation. All the Raiding ever has not landed me a Ghost above 310 light. And then, neither did this playlist. On a scale of one to pretzel in terms of my level of saltiness, I was full on pretzel. I even made that post about Bungie giving no love for Valentine's. Six hours or more of Crimson Doubles with four Ghost drops all 302 and below was super disappointing.
I'm genuinely appreciative of this gift that Bungie is giving us. Sometimes it really is the little things that can make all the difference. I'm definitely feeling the love, Bungie! Thanks a bunch!

Reddit looked at over 4,000 matches. Though out of millions of players, that is a pretty small sample size.
I got 1 after 6 matches. I think nicholasflamel got one after 70 something matches.

(emphasis mine)
4000 matches may seem like a small number out of millions of players, but in the world of statistical analysis, sample sizes of roughly 1100 are generally considered more or less as accurate as much larger pools. In other words, once you've polled 1100 games of Crimson Doubles, the results should scale accurately within a percent or two. There's obviously more to it than that, other factors to consider... all I'm saying is that a sample size of 4000 games should give fairly accurate results in a case like this.

Is it just self-reported by the Redditors? I'd see that as a bigger potential issue than the sample size.

Agreed. The whole thing is dependent on the reddit crowd reporting/recording their results accurately, which is a big "if". Definitely should be taken with a big grain of salt.
Typical, just after i got a 320 drop
Just like every other time...
Heh, I got a bit excited for a minute...
I'm not preoccupied with reaching max level in TTK, but news of guaranteed 320 Ghost Shell made me realize "hey, that's all I need to get my Hunter up to 320... Cool!"
After living with the assumption that my Hunter was going to hit 320 for a day or so, I suddenly remembered "oh wait... my cloak is only 314..."
D'oh!

Not even that - it's a self-selected group that's reporting, not a random sample. They can all report THEIR results accurately, and it's possible that the end result won't be representative of the population as a whole.
Huh?
That doesn't make much sense, Claude. It's not a psychological study where the subjects preferences impact the results. Everyone will be a random subject in the "eyes" of RNGesus.
Unless, of course, RNGesus takes into account your internet history or something, which I highly doubt.
Huh?
The point he's making is that someone who has had bad luck is much more likely to go on Reddit and self report that they had bad luck. That skews the results.
Well, that's a very good point

So THAT'S What It Is!
All that porn...
No wonder I only get one Mote of Light/Strange Coin as a Nightfall reward!
Bungie, you serve some cold unyielding justice...
Who all has gotten ghosts to drop at all?
I've played enough to finish all of the bounties on 3 characters and have yet to get a ghost to drop. I've received both shaders and the valentine one a second time, yet no ghosts at all.
With that said, I played with Kermit the other night and he had some great drops. He had 3? ghosts drop and both shaders drop on one character's play through with me.
I'm glad that they will give out a 320 ghost, but I'm guessing it's only one per account and not one per character. Just a little frustrating considering I would like to have one of each of these meaningless in game items.
Maybe you can't see them because ghosts are invisible.
Nothing 320, but I got 2-3 on my main; 2 on my alt, and 1 on my alt-alt.
That has to be it! lol

Somewhere around 20-30 CD games, no ghosts.

Got one - must be beginner's luck
Miss Oholiab and I had played some CD over the past couple days - just enough to complete the quest I think. We lost all but one match, but we had a blast. It was a great father-daughter activity!
She had at least two shells drop at sub-300 (her character is way below 300 because she really hasn't played TTK at all). I completed the quest and received a 320 shell.
Keep in mind, I'm also the guy that picked up a Fatebringer on his first VOG run and Blackhammer on my first CE run. I chalk it up to RNG throwing me a bone because I'm such a pathetic case.
I got four
Three on PS4 and one on the Xbox. I've played only enough to finish all the bounties I picked up the first day (one character on each platform).
How many poop colored ones?

Who all has gotten ghosts to drop at all?
I've played enough to do all the bounties twice. once for two characters. Got both shaders during the first set of bounties. Got 2 ghosts, one of each, during the second set of bounties.
I got a 312 ghost and 2 <300 ghosts

Full set o bounties, 0 ghosts. Nephew: 1st 3 games, 3 ghosts

Crimson Doubles update: 320 Ghosts for all!
I played 12+ games and got no ghosts. Got two shaders and some random legendaries.
At 34 wins + ?? losses and still no ghost :/

8 matches, two poop shells. Thanks Blue.
Edit: 15 matches, two poop shells and one of the ugly ones
81 games. One ghost finally.

That was fun.
I loved the little rivalry we got with that one team we got matched with twice. Down with Emporer Pig!
Nine games and one 319 chocolate ghost

Yeah, I misspoke in my post when I said I got three on the playstation--I got only one there. Another point of interest: I played roughly 20 games on each platform.

According to DestinyTracker, I played a total of 68 games of doubles - I got two ghosts (both 304, both on the first night).
Both shaders dropped multiple times.
