PSA: Destiny still works without XBL Gold (Destiny)

IDK how many of you guys care about this, or if it's news to anyone, but anything that isn't explicitly multiplayer works without paying. Tower, heroic story, etc. Totally functional. I bet if you were cheap and didn't value your time, you could do patrols with friends without paying.
In other news, Destiny still requires an internet connection

Anything that requires PS+ or Gold is labeled accordingly (or at least it always was, I don't read any descriptions anymore, so I don't know if it was removed for whatever reason.
But yeah, if you don't have Gold, all is not lost.
It's almost like that's how it's been since Alpha. ;)

I went down this path before Dark Below came out and while yes, you could still do patrols and previous campaign you were held back by the level cap of 32 light. You were also locked out of any gear and weapons that would drop, DLC or not.
Anything that was new content, even the free stuff, required you to be light level 40.
The only thing I could do was patrol and the (yawn) vanilla story content.
It's almost like that's how it's been since Alpha. ;)

Ah, yes I did.
I let my PS+ lapse for a month and didn't buy Taken King either.
Destiny was lifeless for a player like that.
Well, at least now current stuff is included.

Er... nope
I just tried it; a dummy silver account (with Taken King installed) can't join my regular xboxlive account's fireteam (or vice versa). When I try attempted, it prompts the silver account to purchase gold.
Well yeah you can't join the fireteam, but you can have your friend set up a proxy server so you guys connect basically through the same IP and have an increased likelihood of being matchmade together, then when you are, call each other on the phone to chat.
